Scouting report

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Minnesota Vikings
The debut for A.J. Brown as an Eagle was a success. The former Titan was targeted 13 times which produced 10 receptions for 155 yards, true No. 1 receiver numbers. The only downside was he didn't score a touchdown. But this was definitely something Philly had been lacking in recent years.

Brown will have a matchup advantage against Minnesota whose defense is below average. The targets to him are very encouraging as QB Jalen Hurts seems to be comfortable with Brown.

The Eagles' offense last week combined with the ability Brown showed against the Lions makes him a solid WR1 for Week 2. He is looking like a fantasy steal early.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Detroit Lions
A.J. Brown will make his Eagles debut and he is a welcome addition to the Philly offense. He is truly a No. 1 guy and should make QB Jalen Hurts better. It will be interesting to see how he is used in the offense.

Brown will face the Lions who were ranked 14th in aFPA to wide receivers. The Eagles were a run first offense last year but will try to balance things out in 2022.

Start Brown as a low-end WR1 for Week 1. He won't be a top 5 guy but he will be consistent for your fantasy team. Expect five receptions for 75 yards.

PHI WR A.J. Brown - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
The Eagles have been searching for that No. 1 receiver and they have finally found him via trade. A.J. Brown was acquired for a first and third-round pick with the hopes he will give them a player who can be the main target in their passing game. Brown was targeted over 100 times the past two seasons but expect that number to be even higher. Those targets over two years produced 133 receptions. Brown also has two 1,000 receiving yard seasons on his resume. He has great size and hands which has been an asset in his three-year career.

2022 Fantasy Downside
The one fear is that even a talent like Brown can't make QB Jalen Hurts improve his passing game. The Eagles like what the quarterback brings to the table with his legs but if a receiver like Brown can't flourish in this offense, the Birds have other issues.

2022 Bottom Line
There is no doubt Brown will get opportunities and will produce. He ranks as a solid WR2 entering the season and that's probably because of the questions still surrounding Hurts. Brown's ADP has him going in the third round, but buyer beware. It's not a reach to select him there as he will perform, but there could be better options still on the table.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Miami Dolphins
A.J. Brown put any doubt about his physical condition coming off injured reserve to rest in Week 16 by erupting to catch 11 of 16 targets for 145 yards and a touchdown. Plagued by inconsistency and availability issues much of this season, Brown's physical dominance was on full display against the 49ers. He made multiple contested grabs and bullied defenders after the catch in his trademark style. Brown's return to form comes at the perfect time as the Titans are in the thick of the AFC's playoff race and will depend heavily on him to move the ball through the air for as long as their season lasts. Brown gets a tough assignment in the Dolphins improved secondary this week, but his talent and projected target share simply cannot be left on the bench in any format. Lock Brown into starting lineups for Week 17 and hope we get more fireworks from him as the regular season winds down.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. San Francisco 49ers
A.J. Brown was designated to return from IR this week, meaning he could be set to return for Thursday's game against the 49ers. Fantasy managers will have to monitor the news out of Nashville to ensure Brown is actually healthy enough to play on Thursday, but he's worth a gamble as a flex play should he make it back as the Titans are desperate for playmakers in the passing game and Julio Jones is injured yet again. Even if he's eased in for health reasons, Brown would almost have to see a healthy amount of targets given the state of the Titans' offensive depth chart. The 49ers don't present an easy matchup for the Titans, but Brown's talent and projected role force him into the starting conversation whenever he's healthy enough to play.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New England Patriots
A.J. Brown had a slow Week 11, in part due to him suffering a chest injury part way through the game. Brown finished with a 5-48-0 line on nine targets, and early reports have failed to reveal much detail about the extent of his injury. If Brown returns in Week 12, he is a must-start given his unquestioned alpha status in the current Tennessee offense, but it will be tough sledding facing a Patriots defense that always prioritizes taking away the opponent's top weapon under Bill Belichick. Keep an eye on updated reports regarding Brown's status throughout the week, but make sure to get him into lineups if he's active despite the tough matchup.

TEN WR A.J. Brown - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Houston Texans
It was a brutal performance for A.J. Brown in Week 10. He was constantly double-teamed and one of those defenders was typically Marshon Lattimore, leading to an extremely disappointing 1-16-0 line against the Saints. Brown will always deal with some inconsistency playing in Tennessee where they love to run the ball and will do so relentlessly in positive game scripts. Julio Jones's absence also looks to be hurting Brown as defenses are free to lock on to him with the Titans lacking other playmakers in the passing game. This week Brown will take on the 49ers, a team that ranks just within the top 10 of toughest fantasy matchups for WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed. While the matchup isn't necessarily favorable, it is very unlikely Brown has another game as quiet as he did in Week 10. Keep the faith and start Brown again in Week 11.
