Scouting report

BAL RB Alex Collins - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Tennessee Titans

Alex Collins got a full workload against the Dolphins last week and averaged 6.3 yards per carry on his way to 113 yards rushing. He added a pair of receptions for 30 yards as well, and he remains the most impressive runner in the Baltimore backfield.

This week, he may not get as many touches as the Ravens are unlikely to shootout to a 40-0 victory and run the ball 40 times. However, Collins has RB2 potential since he’s been averaging 13.75 carries over his past four games. The Titans have been above average against the run this year, allowing 100.1 yards per game on the ground. If Collins gets over a dozen carries again, he’ll be worth having in your lineup.

BAL RB Alex Collins - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Miami Dolphins

Alex Collins and the rest of the Baltimore offense struggled against the Vikings last week. Collins ended up with only 30 yards. However, he led the team with 10 carries and he continues to look like the most talented back in Baltimore.

This week, he’ll face a Dolphins team that has been surprisingly good against the run. While they’ve given up 4 touchdowns on the ground, they rank fifth in the league with only 82.3 rushing yards allowed per game this season. Collins should be considered a deep flier at best this week, although he still has long-term potential.

BAL RB Alex Collins - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Minnesota Vikings

Alex Collins continues to get more work each week, and he had 15 carries for 74 yards against the Bears last Sunday. Collins is easily the most effective runner out of the backfield for the Ravens, and it’ll be surprising if he doesn’t at least maintain the two-down role once inhabited by Terrance West.

This isn’t the best week to start Collins, however, as he’ll face a tough Minnesota defense. The Vikings are third in the league allowing only 3.2 yards per rushing attempt, and they’ve given up only 1 touchdown on the ground this year. Collins should be rostered, but probably not active this week.

BAL RB Alex Collins - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Chicago Bears

Alex Collins had 12 carries for 55 yards last week against the Raiders, and his season average yards per carry is still a ridiculous 7.1. Collins’ 12 carries were the most he’s had all season, and that’s a good sign for the second-year back out of Arkansas. He’s still splitting time with Javorius Allen, but with Terrance West banged up, he should continue to get a fair amount of touches.

This week, he’ll face a Bears defense that has given up 5 rushing touchdowns so far this season. However, they are only allowing 3.9 yards per carry to opposing rushers. Collins has upside if he gets enough touches, but with Allen still lurking and limited opportunities in the passing game, he’s a risky RB3 option in most leagues.

BAL RB Alex Collins - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Oakland Raiders

Alex Collins has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing offensive season for the Ravens thus far. He’s only had 25 carries in three games, but he’s averaging a ridiculous 8.2 yards, and he had a 50-yard run against the Steelers last week.

This week, Collins will face a Raiders defense that has only allowed one rushing touchdown this year, but ranks 24th in the league in rushing yards allowed per game with 120. Collins has RB2 upside if he gets carries, but with an average of 8.3 carries per game so far, it’s hard to bank on him. Collins looks like the best back in Baltimore though, so it seems like it’s only a matter of time before he takes over. This could be the week.
