Recently acquired running back Kenyan Drake went through drills Tuesday. He’ll be given a manageable workload Thursday, coach Kliff Kingsbury said.

Fantasy Impact: 

The limited touches will be to help his transition to a new team and a new offense on a short week. It's also a tough matchup against the 49ers. Both Johnson and Edmonds are not expected to play which mean Zenner and Morris could also be involved.

Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said there's "definitely concern" that running back Chase Edmonds might not play Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers after leaving Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact: 

Edmonds said he's going to try to play but that could be a stretch on a short week. With Drake now in the picture via a trade, it doesn't give him a lot of time either, which means Zenner and Morris could see the bulk of the work. It's not a great matchup for anyone as the Cards take on the 49ers.

The Arizona Cardinals entered Sunday’s matchup already down their starting running back in David Johnson.

The running back situation went from bad to worse against the New Orleans Saints as running back Chase Edmonds left the game with a hamstring injury.

In the third quarter, Edmonds went to pick up the blitz, getting hit by a Saints defender in the process. The running back managed to make it off the field under his own power, but was noticeably limping to the sideline.

Fantasy Impact: 

Zenner was left as the only active RB after Edmonds left the game. The Cards play on Thursday night against the 49ers in Week 9, and Adam Schefter reported Johnson wouldn't be ready for that game either on a short week, and now it looks like Edmonds may be a huge question for that game as well. Morris and Zenner would get the workload in what would be a very tough matchup.

Kliff Kingsbury said David Johnson won’t practice on Wednesday. Signing Alfred Morris and Zach Zenner is about practice reps right now given Johnson and D.J. Foster injuries. He still wants to see where Johnson is at the end of the week.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Cardinals likely won't push David Johnson to play after Chase Edmonds performed so well last week, but we will see if he returns to practice before going all-in on Edmonds in a matchup against the Saints.
