Ravens RB Bernard Pierce's knee injury not regarded as serious, should be fine, per a source. He will get checked out further today.

Fantasy Impact:

Pierce should be one of the better backup RBs this year as the Ravens have been lining Ray Rice up quite a bit in the slot, to help account for the loss of Anquan Boldin and Dennis Pitta. This means that Rice and Pierce could be on the field at the same time.

Fantasy Impact:

Good news for Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce. This news will be also welcome in the locker room, perhaps even cheering up a "disconsolate" Joe Flacco. The Ravens offense looks like it will rely on the running game more following the loss of tight end Dennis Pitta, and Leach should only help matters there.

Although Raven RB Bernard Pierce's workload is expected to increase this year after he averaged 6.75 carries per game as a rookie, the Ravens aren't planning to dramatically alter how they divide up the playing time.

RB Ray Rice remains entrenched as the featured back.

"I'm comfortable spelling myself at any time," Rice said. "I've been healthy and blessed, and I know I can still play at a high level. Last year was a very long year, and us being able to take the blows off of each other and being able to spell each other without having to worry about having to miss a beat, was really, really key for us. There is only one ball to go around, but at the same time, you were seeing what we were able to do with the run game."

Fantasy Impact:

It seems to be a given that Pierce will get more looks this year and as a result, Rice falls in our RB rankings a bit. He comes in at 8th on our list with an ADP of the late first round. Pierce is shaping up to be a must-have handcuff for Rice owners.

Bernard Pierce robbed at gunpoint

A former Temple University All-American running back, who helped lead the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl, was the victim of crime in Philadelphia, according to CBS 3 sources.

Those sources confirm that Bernard Pierce was robbed at gunpoint Sunday evening along the 7500 block of Haverford Avenue. His BMW was also stolen.

The car was later recovered and processed at the police garage for possible clues.

Pierce’s mother, Tammy Pierce, spoke to Eyewitness News about the incident involving her son.

“First of all, I thank God that he’s fine. I don’t care whatever he lost — his car, whatever was in there. He’s fine,” Pierce said. “I think he was targeted because people knew who he was, and that’s sad.”

The good news is that Pierce survived the incident unscathed.
