Cleveland Plain Dealer beat writer Tony Grossi speculated that if rookie running back Montario Hardesty is healthy going into the season, that he would expect the running backs on the roster to be Hardesty, Jerome Harrison, and either James Davis or Chris Jennings. The fullbacks would be Lawrence Vickers and Peyton Hillis, acquired from Denver in the Brady Quinn trade.

Fantasy Impact: 

Hardesty by all accounts is currently healthy and ready to go. He's made a nice impression in Cleveland so far and at this point projects to be the best fantasy player in Cleveland's backfield. While the Browns will likely be weak on offense and have to deal with Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati twice, they'll also draw the Bills, Buccaneers, Chiefs, and Jaguars. So there will be some weeks that a Browns running back could be potentially valuable as a spot starter. The winner of the Davis/Jennings battle could be useful should something happen to Hardesty or Harrison.

Although the Broncos traded for Brady Quinn and drafted Tim Tebow, Denver head coach Josh McDaniels has made it clear to anyone who asks that Kyle Orton is still the team's starting quarterback.

"It's clear Kyle is ahead," McDaniels said. "There's no question. Kyle’s certainly got a great grasp on what we’re doing and he’s performing very well right now in the spring and the two younger guys are trying to push."

Fantasy Impact: 

Orton will be ahead for awhile, but all signs point to Tebow, aka "The Greatest American Hero" eventually taking over. Quinn is the least likely to see significant playing time, although one never knows with McDaniels. Tebow will be part of some packages early on, helping to negate what little fantasy stock Orton has. Unless you are in a keeper league and think Tebow is the real deal, it's best to stay away from all three Denver quarterbacks.

Browns running back Peyton Hillis is out to prove he's the gem of the Brady Quinn trade and not the one-year wonder some folks in Denver thought he was.

"I want to show the coaches they got a big steal," Hillis said during organized team activities last week. "That's just the way I think and work. I feel like I can do just about anything really well, whether it's running or blocking or catching the ball out of the backfield."

For all the talk of a four-way quarterback competition, veterans Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn continue to get the most work at the position through the team's second voluntary passing camp.

Today, in the final practice of a four-day camp, Orton took all of the first-team repetitions, followed by Quinn. Rookie Tim Tebow and second-year player Tom Brandstater were almost completely shut out of live drills against Denver's defense.

"Kyle is definitely getting the most, and he deserves to, there is no doubt about that," head coach Josh McDaniels said. "Brady goes in there next, and then we've been flopping them all. The only thing that's really consistent is that Kyle is in the first huddle."
