With only one productive game this season (six catches against the New York Giants), and after dropping two passes in Game 4 against Washington, Mike Sims-Walker was yanked from the starting lineup and placed on the pregame inactive list. Sims-Walker, a free agent from Jacksonville, was working with the scout team by the end of the practice week, running the routes of Green Bay receivers for the Rams' starting defense.

"The young guys, we thought we'd give a chance there," coach Steve Spagnuolo said.

Fantasy Impact: 

The story points out that Brandon Gibson, Danario Alexander, and rookie Greg Salas combined for 18 catches for 211 yards. In addition, rookie tight end Lance Kendricks added four catches for 71 yards. The team hasn't been impressed with Sims-Walker and is looking to these younger guys to see what they have. The team is also rumored to be in the market for WR Brandon Lloyd of Denver before the trade deadline.

The Broncos are prepared to go forward with a young receiver group of Eric Decker​, Demaryius Thomas​, Eddie Royal​ and Matt Willis if they can trade Brandon Lloyd.

Thomas has been out all season, first to recover from Achilles tendon surgery, then to recover from surgery to repair a broken pinkie finger. The Broncos' first-round draft pick in 2010 — in which he was selected three spots ahead of quarterback Tim Tebow​ — Thomas is also expected to practice this week and play against the Dolphins.

Fantasy Impact: 

Thomas may be worth a pickup as a guy to maybe use in the future, especially if the Lloyd trade goes down.

Report: Brandon Lloyd on the trading block

With the NFL trade deadline looming, the Broncos have been in talks with other teams regarding Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Lloyd, according to three NFL sources.

The Broncos are believed to be seeking anywhere from a third- to fifth- round draft pick in return. There have been "three or four" teams who have expressed interest in Lloyd, according to a source, with Carolina and Tennessee among them.

Multiple factors have pushed Lloyd to the trading block, according to the sources.

One, he is a free agent after this season, and although the Broncos and Lloyd have briefly discussed a contract extension, nothing is close to materializing.

Two, the Broncos' receiving corps is about to get crowded after this weekend's bye with the return of Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal. Lloyd, 30, has been starting at receiver alongside Eric Decker, a third-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Additionally, the Broncos are expected to shift to a more ball-control, run-oriented offense with Tim Tebow taking over at quarterback following the demotion of Kyle Orton.

Fantasy Impact: 

Due to the complex nature of the typical football playbook, the NFL trade deadline is not as active as the NBA or MLB deadlines, so it would be somewhat surprising to see Lloyd moved. His departure would open the door for Decker, Thomas and Royal, but the Broncos should hold onto Lloyd, who can adjust to imperfect passes now that Tim Tebow is under center. The ideal fit for Lloyd would be a team like the Titans, Bills or Rams since they have established QBs and have suffered injuries at WR.

Once the Broncos return from their bye this week, John Fox will have some difficult decisions to make with his receiver group.

The Broncos starting receivers are Brandon Lloyd​, who led the NFL in receiving yards last year, and Eric Decker​, who has five touchdowns (one on a punt return) through five games.

Returning from injury after the bye week will be Eddie Royal​, who was starting ahead of Decker before tearing his groin in Week 2 against

Fantasy Impact: 

This is a situation to keep an eye on because Decker was a popular pickup over the last few weeks. The return of Royal could hurt Decker's production if Royal jumps right in and gets significant time.
