Rams QB Sam Bradford has been impressed with the skill of both WRs Chris Givens and Brian Quick. Bradford said Wednesday, “Givens first of all is extremely fast. I think he’s a guy that defenses are going to have to be extremely aware of. If they fall asleep on him for a half second at all, he’s going to be by them. I think that’s nice to have, just that added speed. Then Quick, I was working with him a little bit after practice today and it’s just extremely impressive watching him move. As big as he is, as tall as he is, he gets in and out of breaks really well. He’s fast as well. It’s exciting to have those two guys here. We’ve just got to keep pushing them, try to get them ready to go.”

Rams expecting WR Brian Quick to be "a big part" of offense

It sounds like Rams WR Brian Quick is expected to contribute right away.

"Brian improved from yesterday to today," HC Jeff Fisher said. "He settled down a little bit."

The specifics of the depth chart have yet to be determined. Fisher made it sound like Quick will be sitting near the top when training camp finally rolls around in August.

"We expect him to play and be a big part of our offense," Fisher said. "We don't think about it any other way than that. That's why we drafted him, and we expect him to do it."

Since the draft, Fisher and GM Les Snead's high opinion of Quick has been no secret. He's been on their radar for a long time, and was even said to be something of a "1b" option when ranked next to the 1st-round receivers.

"It's a long time between now and the opener, so we feel like he's got a chance to continue to develop and become more comfortable with what we're doing," Fisher said. "We wouldn't have taken him at the spot where we took him were we not convinced that he was one of those guys that could learn fast and help us very early in the season."

Fantasy Impact: 

There is plenty of opportunity for Quick to earn snaps and targets given the current state of the Rams WR corps.

NFL.com writer Ian Rapoport spent the day in St. Louis said the Rams are "insanely excited" about WR Brian Quick. Here's more: "Quick is tall. Not breaking news. But it’s true. The Appalachian State product is listed at 6-foot-3, but he looks bigger. And at 220, he’s quite the beast. I knew the Rams loved him, even though most of us were shocked by the pick. I just wasn’t sure why. That’s becoming clearer. First of all, QB Sam Bradford is tall, and Quick is tall. That is a high-wire connection in the making. Anyway, Quick moves like a small guy, and he really can catch it. I didn’t see him drop one all day. He gets in an out of his breaks well, he’s nimble and he looks like a good athlete. Very solid."

Fantasy Impact: 

Positive reports about rookies at this time of year are a dime a dozen, but this isn't coming from a beat writer -- Rapoport is a national writer so perhaps his opinion is a bit more objective. One thing's for sure -- Quick has a tremendous opportunity for targets in the Rams' weak WR corps and will surprise if he can pick up the NFL game quickly. Having played at Appalachian St., he'll have to make a big adjustment to the speed of the NFL.

In studying both WRs Brian Quick and Justin Blackmon extensively on film, you can make the argument that Quick, who’s significantly bigger than Blackmon, is more naturally athletic. Quick is a very fluid and smooth athlete with excellent lateral quickness and deceptive vertical speed due to stride length. It’s not a stretch at all, when you analyze Quick’s physical and athletic attributes, to understand why the Rams selected him early. With his size and overall skill set, he has a chance to be the best wide receiver in this draft class.

Fantasy Impact: 

Quick has plenty of opportunity to succeed in his rookie season given the lack of receiving options in St. Louis and a relatively good QB (Sam Bradford) throwing the ball.
