Scouting report

DEN QB Brock Osweiler - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Probably the best part about the fourth year QB is that he hasn’t taken many hits in the NFL. The former second-round pick out of Arizona State has thrown just 30 regular season passes, including his lone TD toss last year versus Oakland in the season finale. The tallest QB in the league at 6’ 8”, Brock Osweiler will have plenty of opportunities to improve his game during training camp and the preseason, as the Broncos plan to rest Peyton Manning to help him get ready for the playoff push at the end of the year.

Fantasy Downside
Despite his age, Peyton Manning doesn’t miss much, if any, regular season action, so the chances of Osweiler seeing any meaningful action in ’15 are slim. While he’s had good moments in previous preseason contests, Brock just hasn’t been on the field enough to show his skills.

Bottom Line
The only reason to even consider having him on your fantasy roster is as a handcuff to Peyton in very deep leagues or in dynasty formats for when Manning decides to hang ‘em up.

DEN QB Brock Osweiler - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Once again, Brock Osweiler will be the top clipboard holder in the NFL and virtually nobody wants to see him on the field for meaningful action, at least not this season. The 23-year-old enters his third professional season and will wait his turn behind one of the best ever in Peyton Manning. Brock has a strong arm and moves pretty well for a 6’8” QB, but in his first two years he’s thrown just 20 regular season passes, completing 13 of them. However, Manning is 38 and is still only a hit away from passing the torch to Osweiler, who would inherit a very good WR group.

Fantasy Downside
The only real action Brock has seen in his first two years was the second half of the regular season finally at Oakland last season after Manning set the NFL passing record. He performed well in the blowout, throwing for 85 yards on 13 attempts, but still has some work to do with his throwing mechanics.

Bottom Line
While Osweiler is the Broncos No. 2 QBs depth chart, barring a big injury to Manning, he shouldn’t see any important playing time. The only reason to consider having him on your fantasy roster is if you own Peyton and have pretty much unlimited roster spots.
