Sean McVay said he "loved the way" Cam Akers responded this week.

"I like the way that he went through the first walkthrough of the week. I liked his focus and concentration in the meetings and I expect that to translate to practice."

Fantasy Impact:

McVay went on to say "...I have true confidence that he and Darrell [Henderson] are both going to do a very good job for us and I’m excited about that coming to life this week." Seems like this could become a muddy fantasy RB situation for the Rams going forward, but it's hard to believe if Akers is healthy and eventually comes out of the doghouse, he won't be the team's RB1. It's a nice matchup against the Falcons this week and for now at least, Henderson seems like the safer play. After last week, it would be hard to insert Akers back into lineups this week for Week 2.

Rams to put RB Kyren Williams (ankle) on IR

Rams rookie running back Kyren Williams is set to miss a chunk of time after having surgery to repair a high-ankle sprain he suffered in the season opener and the team announced on Tuesday that he’ll be going on injured reserve as he recovers.

Williams will miss at least four games as a result of going on the list and word last Friday was that he should miss 6-8 weeks. Williams was injured covering a kickoff on the only snap he played in his first NFL regular season game.

Fantasy Impact:

After Akers disappeared in Week 1, many thought Williams could eventually get some work out of the backfield for the Rams. That will at least be put on hold until he's back. With Akers seemingly in the doghouse, it looks like Henderson should be the team's RB1 at least for now.

Even with Kyren Williams leaving the game in the first quarter with a high-ankle sprain, teammate Cam Akers only garnered 12 snaps in the team's opening game.

Fantasy Impact:

The only remaining back on the Rams roster is Jake Funk, 2021's seventh-round pick. Darrell Henderson would finish Week 1 out-touching Cam Akers 18-3, controlling a huge portion of the backfield.

Rams RB Cam Akers injury isn't considered serious

The soft-tissue injury for Rams RB Cam Akers is not considered serious, I’m told. Rams taking preventative measures by holding him out of preseason practices but that’s the extent of it.

Fantasy Impact:

We reported Henderson is also dealing with a soft tissue injury and that both weren't considered serious. While Fowler mentioned nothing about Henderson, it's good news to reaffirm Akers' injury isn't considered anything that would cause him to miss games.
