Week 6 at Minnesota
As Elton John once sang, “I guess that’s why they call it the blues.” The Chiefs and the fantasy community were deflated by the loss of Jamaal Charles to a season-ending injury on Sunday. Once the shock wore off, thoughts turned to who would wear Jamaal’s hard-to-fill shoes in the Kansas City backfield. Currently, Charcandrick West looks most likely to fill the void.
Who is Charcandrick West? He played his college ball at Abilene Christian in Texas, a school that in recent years sent Bernard Scott and Daryl Richardson to the NFL. At 5’10” and 205 pounds, he is a sturdy speedster. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid indicated West had a similar style to Charles. While all sounds promising, West may have a very short window to impress, as Knile Davis will also see playing time and has filled in nicely for Charles in recent seasons. Charcandrick could generate immediate production on Sunday, as the Vikings are giving up 125.5 rushing yards per game. In their most recent contest, Minnesota allowed a long touchdown run to Denver’s Ronnie Hillman. It remains to be seen how West will fare, but owners should not be scared to start him as a RB2 this weekend.
