NYJ TE Chris Herndon - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Miami Dolphins

Chris Herndon has become a factor as he's scored a touchdown in three straight games. Two of the three have come inside the 20 which means Herndon has become a red zone threat. However, Herndon still has only seven receptions over that three-game stretch.

He faces a Dolphins defense that is ranked 26th in aFPA to tight ends and is definitely in the conversation for fantasy tight ends. He still should stay on the bench as a solid TE2 for Week 9.

NYJ TE Chris Herndon - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Chicago Bears

Chris Herdon's stock has risen the past couple weeks as he has become a red zone target for QB Sam Darnold. Herndon has two touchdowns in each of his last two games. The rest of the numbers aren't great, but touchdowns for tight ends are big in fantasy.

Herndon will face a Bears defense that is 18th in aFPA to tight ends. Although he is not a major threat in Week 8, he does carry some value. Keep him on the bench as a low-end TE2.

NYJ TE Chris Herndon - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Chris Herndon has the inside track to be the starting tight end for the Jets. The rookie had some success last year at Miami (40 receptions). There aren't many TE options for the Jets, so as long as he performs he should get the job.

Fantasy Downside

He has potential, but how good he will play at the next level is unknown. He could end up on the bench if the Jets feel he isn't ready.

2018 Bottom Line

There is no reason to draft Herndon because of the unknown. He is our No. 37 ranked fantasy tight end, which means he's not worth a roster spot but could be a possible early-season waiver wire addition if he starts strong.
