Scouting report

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 8, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. San Diego

Crockett Gillmore looked pretty good against Arizona on Monday night, catching five passes for 53 yards. The most encouraging thing about him for fantasy owners is he was second on the team behind Steve Smith Sr. with seven targets on the day and he was on the field for 81 percent of the team’s offensive snaps.

This week, Gillmore faces a Chargers defense that has struggled all year and was lit up by the Raiders on Sunday, including allowing four catches, 53 yards and a touchdown to the tight end position alone. They’ve allowed four touchdowns to TE’s so far this year, and Gillmore has some upside this week in most leagues, especially if you need a bye week filler. He’s a borderline starter this week, just inside our top-15.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Arizona

Crockett Gillmore returned to action last week against the 49ers after missing two games with a calf injury. He ended up catching three of the six passes thrown his way for 30 yards. Gillmore should continue to see action in the Ravens offense, as he was in on 83 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in his return on Sunday.

This week, Gillmore has a tough matchup against a very good Cardinals defense. Arizona has yet to allow a TE to score a touchdown against them this season and they lead the league with 11 interceptions. While Gillmore is roster-worthy, he’s not a great option this week and falls outside our top 15 players at the position, making him a better bench option than starter this week.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at San Francisco
Crockett Gilmore returned to practice this week, which may mean he has a shot at playing on Sunday. Even in a good matchup, however, he’s too risky to rely on coming back from an injury. The Ravens are breaking in three young TE’s, including Gilmore, and it seems unlikely he’ll jump right back into legit fantasy production after missing a couple weeks with an injury. Regardless of his status, look elsewhere.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Pittsburgh

Crockett Gilmore left the Bengals game with a calf injury last week after catching three passes for 40 yards. He’s shown an ability to be an effective player in the seam, and his athleticism is translating into on field success during his second season in the league.

Gilmore is not expected to play this week however and fantasy owners should make sure to get him out of their lineups.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Cincinnati

The Ravens had a bad day against Oakland last week, losing by four points, but Crockett Gilmore had a great game. He caught five of the six passes thrown his way for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns and made any fantasy owners who started him very happy.

Gilmore was in on nearly every snap against the Raiders and his production bodes well for him as he tries to stave off rookie Maxx Williams as the starter. This week, he’ll face a Bengals defense that has looked pretty sharp through two weeks, however, which makes him a risky start. I would be looking to add Gilmore, but I want to see him produce for a couple of weeks in a row before I consider putting him in my lineup. He is a borderline starter this week.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Oakland

Crockett Gilmore was targeted four times against the Broncos last week, catching two passes for 23 yards. Sadly, he finished second on the team in receiving yards with that paltry total.

Gilmore faces a Raiders team last week that got torched by Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert for nine catches, 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns. While it would be a stretch to assume Gilmore will enjoy similar success, the Raiders clearly had a hole in their tight end coverage. We have Gilmore outside our top 20 though, as there are still a lot of more consistent tight ends available to owners. We recommend leaving him on waivers at this time.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Denver

Crockett Gilmore seems to have won the starting job over rookie Maxx Williams, but it is hard to expect big things from a second-year tight end with a rookie looking over his shoulder. He will face a Broncos pass defense that gave up 29 touchdown passes a year ago, but Gilmore is a risky bet as a fantasy option.

We recommend staying away from the Baltimore tight end situation this week entirely as we continue to see the two players fight for roles. The potential is there for one of these guys to succeed in the Ravens offense, but a cautionary short-term approach is best -- especially with the depth at the position around the league.
