Scouting report

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Chicago
Dallas Goedert has two touchdowns over the past two weeks so that has helped give him value in the tight end rankings. He has been just as involved in the passing game as starting tight end Zach Ertz in recent weeks.

Goedert faces the Bears who are surprisingly only ranked 22nd in aFPA to tight ends. That would earn him a TE1 rating for Week 9 so start him in both standard and PPR leagues.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Buffalo
Although he is considered the second tight end on the Eagles, Dallas Goedert has put up good numbers, even better weeks than No. 1 tight end Zach Ertz at times. Last Sunday, he scored a touchdown to go along with four catches for 69 yards.

Goedert has a tough matchup against Buffalo who is seventh in aFPA to tight ends. The Eagles play a lot of two-tight end sets which gives him opportunity, but Ertz is still the main target in the passing game. Goedert ranks a high-end TE2, but not quite a starter in your lineup for Week 8.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Dallas
The Eagles are going back to their two tight ends sets a lot so Dallas Goedert is getting on the field. He caught five passes for 48 yards. It's hard to believe the Eagles tight ends have only two touchdowns between them, but that is the case so far this season.

Goedert would probably be a TE1 if he played for a different team, but he is sharing time and targets with Zach Ertz. So, even though we like him against a Cowboys defense that is ranked 28th in aPFA to tight ends, keep him on the bench as a TE2.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Atlanta
Dallas Goedert is caught in a tough spot because of all the talent in Philadelphia. He was as limited to three targets Week 1 which produced two catches for 16 yards. He will have days like this with a big day sprinkled in.

For now, he is depth on your roster as he rates a low-end TE2. He will only increase those numbers if something happens to starter Zach Ertz but until something like that happens, you might want to consider other options for the bench.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Washington
It's hard to think Dallas Goedert can have much fantasy impact considering he plays with Zach Ertz. But the Eagles love two tight end sets and Goedert's size makes him a huge red zone target.

Goedert will face the Redskins this week who were fifth in aFPA to tight ends in 2018. Even with the touch matchup, Goedert rates a low-end TE2 and might be able to help you Week 1 depending on your league format.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The Eagles passing game revolves around the tight end and even though Zach Ertz grabs a lot of those targets and receptions, Dallas Goedert is still very involved playing in almost 50% of the snaps as a backup. In fact, the Eagles might go to even more two-tight end sets in 2019. Goedert is involved in the Philly offense.

Fantasy Downside
Ertz had a record amount of targets for a tight end in 2018 so Goedert is playing second fiddle. There is a question if there is enough room for his numbers to grow.

2019 Bottom Line
Goedert might be a backup but his projected numbers, which should be like last season, rank him as low-end TE2. His ADP is 186 and that’s where he should be taken. He is a solid offensive weapon in an offense that stresses tight end involvement.
