NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at New York Jets

Daniel Jones had a rough game against the Cowboys on Monday night. He threw for 210 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a blowout loss. While he added 54 rushing yards, he was sacked five times and failed to move the Giants’ offense with any kind of consistency. Jones has thrown eight interceptions over his past six games and save for his four-touchdown game against the Lions in Week 8, he’s been underwhelming across the board in that span. He still has a lot of long-term potential in dynasty formats, but he’s hard to roster in redraft leagues that use only one quarterback.

The Jets rank 19th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks this year, giving Jones some upside in what should be a pretty good matchup. If the Jets offense continues to struggle, however, the Giants could lean on Saquon Barkley even more throughout the game, limiting Jones’ potential. Most fantasy owners would settle for fewer turnovers for Jones, which is possible against the hapless Jets. He’s a low-end QB2 option or a risky streamer in most leagues this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Daniel Jones had a great game against the Lions last week, putting up 322 yards and four touchdowns as he almost brought the Giants back from an early 14-point deficit. Jones has had his ups and downs, as can be expected from a rookie, but he’s shown enough flashes to leave Giants fans and fantasy owners with optimism.

This week, Jones faces a Cowboys defense that ranks eighth in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks and just held Carson Wentz to less than 200 yards in a lopsided victory before the bye last week. Still, the Cowboys have been inconsistent throughout the season and Jones should be able to take advantage of the quality weapons he has around him in Golden Tate, Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley. Jones is far from a sure thing, but as a QB2 option, he has upside.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Detroit Lions

Daniel Jones failed to take full advantage of what should’ve been an excellent matchup against the Cardinals last week, throwing for only 223 yards, a touchdown and a pick. He added 35 yards rushing to help salvage an otherwise disappointing fantasy day, but he now has four straight subpar performances, over which he’s thrown seven interceptions. Jones is a rookie and he could still develop, but his lack of fantasy production so far makes him difficult to trust in any given week, particularly in bad matchups.

The Lions have talent on the defensive side of the ball, but they were torched by the Vikings last week for 42 points. Even if last week is the right barometer to look at for the matchup, there’s no reason to suspect Jones will start producing at this time. In single quarterback leagues, Jones can be left on waivers. In leagues that start two quarterbacks, he’s a fringe QB2 streaming option at best this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Daniel Jones struggled, predictably, against a tough Patriots defense last week, throwing for 161 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in a blowout loss. Jones has struggled in each of his past three starts following his breakout play against the Buccaneers in Week 3, averaging a mere 189.3 yards per game in that span and tossing three touchdowns with six interceptions.

This week might be the week he turns it around, however. Jones faces a Cardinals defense that has given up the fourth-most aFPA to opposing quarterbacks this year. They just allowed 356 yards and four touchdown passes to Matt Ryan last week and this may be the best opportunity Jones is going to get to get back on track this season. Jones should be considered an excellent streaming option, as we have him ranked as a borderline QB1.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at New England Patriots

Daniel Jones struggled last week in a tough matchup against the Vikings. He finished with 182 yards, a touchdown and a pick, adding 12 yards on the ground. Jones has had his ups and downs, but is completing 64.2% of his passes and has accounted for six touchdowns in three starts, giving him upside for the future.

This week, Jones has a tough matchup against the Patriots. New England has allowed the least aFPA to opposing quarterbacks this season. Granted, the Patriots haven’t faced much competition yet, but it’s a good week to sit the rookie if possible and look to other streaming options with better matchups.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Despite what looked like an easy matchup on paper, Daniel Jones struggled against Washington last week. He got a blowout victory and threw for 225 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw a pair of interceptions. Jones added 33 yards on the ground on five attempts, giving him 61 rushing yards through two starts. Jones has already shown an ability to be a better fantasy option than he was initially considered as a rookie, however, and he should benefit from the return of Golden Tate from suspension.

While Jones looks like a decent fantasy option long-term, this week may not be the best time to count on him. The Vikings are stout defensively and have the sixth-best defense in football, allowing a mere 15.8 points per game. They just lost to Chicago and are actually tied for 16th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks, but this still isn’t a great matchup for a marginal fantasy starter anyway. Outside of leagues where you start two quarterbacks, Jones should be left on the bench this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Washington Redskins

Daniel Jones had a heck of a coming-out party in his first career start last week, torching the Buccaneers for 336 yards and two touchdowns through the air, along with 28 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground. Jones looked poised and confident in the pocket and demonstrated surprising pocket mobility, particularly on a 46-yard strike to fellow rookie Darius Slayton. It’s a good sign for Giants fans and for fantasy owners suffering from the rash of quarterback injuries through three weeks.

Jones will try for an encore against the Redskins this week, and he should stand a good chance. Washington has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season, and they just gave up three touchdown passes to Mitch Trubisky. Jones has some risk associated with him as a youngster with only one start under his belt, but the conditions should be prime for another excellent performance, and we have him listed as a fringe QB1 option this week.
