Scouting report

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cincinnati Bengals

Darius Slayton caught five of seven balls for 93 yards against the Eagles before the bye last week. It was good to see the volume of targets for Slayton, given he had just 17 targets combined in the previous four games. Slayton has tremendous upside in any given week because of his big-play ability and his unique skill set in this offense, but the Giants have struggled so much on offense, it’s hard to trust him.

This week, Slayton faces a Bengals defense that ranks 31st in the league in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. It’s a great matchup for him, and if he can get similar targets to what he did against the Eagles, he should be in for a sneaky good fantasy day. Consider him a low-end, boom-or-bust WR3 option.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Darius Slayton caught his lone target for six yards last week against Washington. Slayton has been hit-or-(mostly) miss this season, and it’s hard to trust him in any given week when the Giants’ offense has been so bad. There’s some upside this week, as the Eagles rank 17th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Slayton may get lucky and catch a bomb, but that’s risky to bet on, considering his recent production and the lone target he had a week ago. Consider him a boom-or-bust desperation option.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Washington Football Team

Darius Slayton had 56 yards on five receptions last week against the Buccaneers, but he was targeted nine times. It was good to see him with so many targets after just seven combined in his previous two games. Slayton continues to be a big-play threat if Daniel Jones can get him the ball, giving him boom-or-bust upside in any given week.

This week, Slayton faces a Washington defense that ranks first overall in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. While he should still see targets, the difficult matchup makes it tough to trust him. Fantasy owners should view him as a risky, low-end WR3 option at best this week and look elsewhere if possible.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Darius Slayton had just two catches on four targets for 23 yards last week. It was his second consecutive game with just two receptions. Slayton has shown flashes this year, but he hasn’t looked 100% healthy over his past two games, and Sterling Shepard returned to action last week, taking away valuable targets. Slayton looks like he’s turning into a boom-bust option week-to-week in this terrible offense.

He’s extra risky this week against a tough Buccaneers defense that ranks ninth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Slayton may benefit from the Giants likely falling behind early against the Bucs’ potent offense, but he’s a risky bet to produce in any given week. He’s a risky WR3 option in most leagues.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Philadelphia Eagles

Darius Slayton went into Week 6 hobbled and then looked hurt after his touchdown reception against Washington. Slayton hasn’t been ruled out for Thursday night though, and he has upside in good matchups given he’s the only true outside receiver for the Giants. Slayton ended up with two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown last week. He’s averaging 7.3 targets per game and leads the team in every receiving category, including an impressive 16.2 yards per catch.

This week, Slayton faces an Eagles defense that ranks 27th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this season, giving him significant WR2 upside. Marquise Brown caught four balls for 57 yards against the Eagles last week, which should be low-end numbers for Slayton in a game where the Giants should be throwing. Watch the injury report, but as long as he’s good, he should be active as a sneaky WR2 in a great matchup.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Washington Football Team

Darius Slayton had a nice game in a great matchup against the Cowboys last week, catching eight of the 11 balls thrown his way for 129 yards. Slayton led the team in targets, seeing more than twice the number of Golden Tate, who was second with five. Slayton is now averaging eight targets per game and continues to be a high-upside option, particularly in good matchups.

This week, Slayton will face a Washington defense that actually ranks sixth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, despite ranking 22nd against quarterbacks. We have Slayton ranked as a low-end WR2 this week in a tougher matchup, but his upside makes him worth starting in most leagues as the primary deep threat in New York.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Dallas Cowboys

Darius Slayton has struggled to put up numbers since his Week 1, two-touchdown performance. Slayton has just nine reception for 134 total yards in the three games since. However, Slayton is still averaging 7.25 targets per game, and he remains a legit deep threat for the Giants’ offense.

Slayton will face a Dallas defense that ranks 28th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this season, and was just torched by Odell Beckham Jr. last week. He’s risky, as is the rest of the Giants’ offense, but Dallas has really struggled defensively this season and will likely force New York to throw the ball. Slayton has high upside in a nice matchup as a WR3 flyer.
