Scouting report

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Detroit
Darren Sproles popped back up on the fantasy radar last week. He ran six times for 21 yards and caught three passes for 38 yards and a TD on seven targets. It was his first receiving TD of the season. His nine touches was the most since Week 3 when he had 15. It's hard to tell what you're going to get from Sproles week to week, but the odds are a little better for him again this week as it looks like Ryan Mathews will miss the game with a concussion. That would make Sproles the Eagles RB2 option this week. Outside of deeper PPR leagues, he's a risky play.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

With Ryan Mathews out with a concussion, Darren Sproles saw eight touches last week. He ran three times for zero yards but did catch five balls for 34 yards. With a chance Mathews is out again this week against the Bucs, Sproles could be in for an 8-12 touch workday. However, Sproles just isn't producing like he was in the beginning of year and it's a similar pattern to last year where he disappeared at times. He's just not a safe option, especially in standard formats.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Carolina
Much like last year, Darren Sproles continues to see his touches diminish since Week 1. He was held to just two carries for four yards and caught one ball for three yards on just two targets last weel. The Eagles said they wanted to get Sproles more involved in the passing game, but this trend is just like last season. Over the last three weeks, Sproles has two catches for 13 yards on seven targets.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Dallas
Darren Sproles had five rushes for 27 yards last week, but registered just one catch on two targets. That was his only catch over the last two games and in that same time frame, he's seen just five targets. The Eagles seem to have once again gone away from Sproles in the passing game after he was targeted nine, four and six times the first three weeks. That's going to make him a risky PPR league start until we start to see more usage.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New Orleans
Darren Sproles ran four times for 17 yards, but didn't catch a pass for the first time this season. He was targeted three times, a season low. It's another tough matchup this week as the Saints are ninth in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Sproles' touches have been up and down this year and he's not really a safe option, even in PPR leagues, until this offense starts to show a little more.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Washington

Darren Sproles was heavily involved last week in the Eagles first win, carrying the ball 11 times for just 17 yards, but he did have a TD. He caught four balls for 19 yards and dropped a swing pass that sure looked like it was going to be a long TD reception. He also returned a punt for a touchdown.

Sproles is an RB2 option in PPR leagues this week against the Skins, who are ninth in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Sproles should be involved no matter who plays at RB for the Eagles, but he did get a bump in touches with no DeMarco Murray in Week 3. That could be the case this week, too, which would likely increase the number of touches Sproles gets in the running game.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Detroit
After a 12-touch performance in Week 1, Darren Sproles had just five touches in Week 2. He ran once for minus-four yards and caught four balls for 23 yards, so it wasn't what owners were hoping for if they optimistically put Sproles in their lineups last week. This week, it's a tough matchup as the Jets are sixth in allowing fantasy points to RBs. News broke Wednesday that DeMarco Murray is having an MRI on his hamstring. This could mean more work for both Sproles and Ryan Mathews, so it's something to monitor before this Sunday's early game.
