Scouting report

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 - Sproles vs. Dallas

Darren Sproles saw a bump in touches last week and again made the most of them. He had just six total between Weeks 10 and 11, but had nine in Week 12 - running six times for 25 yards and a TD and hauling in three passes for 14 yards.

After going catchless in Weeks 5 and 6, Sproles has 10 receptions in his last four games. The TD was his fifth rushing TD of the season. He continues to be a bit of a risk in typical 10-team leagues, due to the low volume, but he's scoring a touchdown just about every other game and is a big play threat. Sproles is an RB3/flex play with a bit more value in PPR leagues.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 - Sproles vs. Tennessee
Darren Sproles had four touches last week, two rushes for 21 yards and two catches for 23 yards. He was targeted six times though, the most since Week 2. Coming off a blowout loss to the Pack, there's been a public cry about using Sproles more. He's only averaged three touches over his last two games, so it really seems like the Birds are limiting his usage after he averaged 13 touches his first two weeks.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 - Sproles vs. Green Bay
Darren Sproles had just two touches last week but made the most of them. One was an eight-yard TD run, the other a catch for 13 yards. Sproles also returned a punt for a TD. He was averaging about seven touches a game his three prior games. He's been a risky play for just any league but it's hard to argue when he produces.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 - Sproles vs. Carolina
For the first time in three games, Darren Sproles caught a pass. Last week he caught four for 46 yards and added three rushes for 17 yards.

With the addition of Chris Polk to the running game, these may start to become typical numbers for Sproles, as LeSean McCoy should be the lead back with Polk getting short yardage and change of pace chances - and Sproles getting a bigger role in the passing game. That could especially be true as a safety valve for new QB Mark Sanchez. Sproles has received seven touches the last three game he's played now. He's only startable in deep PPR formats.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 - Sproles vs. Houston
Darren Sproles sat out last week's game at Arizona but said he'll be on the field this week against the Texans. Houston ranks 18th in allowing fantasy points to RBs so it's not a terrible matchup on paper. Sproles hasn't caught a pass his last two games and wasn't even targeted back in Week 5. He's had seven rushes in both Weeks 5 and 6. With Chris Polk also healthy and able to spell LeSean McCoy, it's possible Sproles gets move involved in the passing game. He's a risky play in typical leagues.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 - Sproles vs. Arizona
Darren Sproles sprained his MCL back in Week 6 against the Giants, leaving the Eagles with only LeSean McCoy to finish out the game. Sproles actually has a chance to play this week coming off the bye last week. If you plan to play him, you'll need to check his status and have a backup plan just in case. He wasn't getting a lot of touches but did have seven in Week 6 before leaving. He picked up 39 yards and a TD, his third TD of the season.

PHI RB Darren Sproles - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 - Sproles vs. NY Giants
Darren Sproles ran seven times for 51 yards last week, including a big 25-yard gain to help run time off the clock late in the fourth quarter. Sproles had seven touches last week - all runs and no receptions. In Weeks 3 and 4, Sproles had a total of eight touches. He's still not really a safe option when you consider the Eagles have dropped his touches and snaps since the first two weeks. He has just five catchers over the last three weeks.
