Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds leaves game with hamstring injury

The Arizona Cardinals entered Sunday’s matchup already down their starting running back in David Johnson.

The running back situation went from bad to worse against the New Orleans Saints as running back Chase Edmonds left the game with a hamstring injury.

In the third quarter, Edmonds went to pick up the blitz, getting hit by a Saints defender in the process. The running back managed to make it off the field under his own power, but was noticeably limping to the sideline.

Fantasy Impact: 

Zenner was left as the only active RB after Edmonds left the game. The Cards play on Thursday night against the 49ers in Week 9, and Adam Schefter reported Johnson wouldn't be ready for that game either on a short week, and now it looks like Edmonds may be a huge question for that game as well. Morris and Zenner would get the workload in what would be a very tough matchup.

Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 8. We're expecting Johnson to sit, which makes Chase Edmonds a very good start against a tough Saints defense that has given up a lot of receptions to opposing running backs.

Cardinals RB David Johnson (hamstring) will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Saints.

Fantasy Impact: 

Johnson missed practice all week. Hopefully you were able to grab Chase Edmonds because he will get all the work if Johnson can’t go. Arizona plays in the early window so we’ll know his status by 11:30 in the morning. But if the story plays out like last week, don’t expect to see much of DJ.

Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. All signs point to Johnson sitting out Week 8. Chase Edmonds would be a solid (volume) RB2 in a tough matchup against the Saints.
