Scouting report

HOU WR DeAndre Hopkins - Week 8, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Detroit
With Brock Osweiler struggling on the road again, DeAndre Hopkins finished with just five catches for 36 yards on 12 targets in the loss to the Broncos last Monday. Osweiler and Hopkins have been off for most of the season, as DeAndre has posted over 60 yards just twice so far. If there is a game to turn things around, Sunday would be it, as the Lions defense is allowing an NFL-high 18 passing TDs. Go ahead and keep starting the talented WR and hope he gets better play out of the Houston QB.

HOU WR DeAndre Hopkins - Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Denver
Without Will Fuller to draw some attention away, DeAndre Hopkins was bottled up for much of last Sunday night’s come-from-behind win over Indy. Once the offense woke up, Brock Osweiler went to No. 10 and DeAndre finished with nine grabs for 71 yards on 15 targets. Fuller, who was active last week, should be fine for the Monday nighter, which will help both WRs, but it’ll be a tough game against the Denver secondary. In any event, you can’t keep a talent like Hopkins on your bench.

HOU WR DeAndre Hopkins - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Indianapolis
After another tough game for DeAndre Hopkins last week against the Vikings, owners were rewarded with a meaningless one-yard TD late in the fourth quarter. On the day, DeAndre was targeted nine times, catching five passes for 56 yards and scoring his third TD of the season. It’s still a concern that in four of the five contests of ’16, he has been limited to 56 yards or fewer. However, Hopkins is always a threat to have a big game, so keep on starting him, especially facing a Colts secondary that gives up over 300 passing yards per game.

HOU WR DeAndre Hopkins - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Minnesota
Even though Brock Osweiler threw for over 250 yards last week against the Titans, DeAndre Hopkins continues to struggle. He was targeted six times by his QB, but caught just one pass late in the game for four yards. Rookie Will Fuller has been posting strong numbers, but you have to wonder when it will be DeAndre’s time to breakout, as he’s been below 60 yards in all but one contest in 2016. Minnesota’s defense has been really good so far, but you can’t leave Hopkins on your bench.

HOU WR DeAndre Hopkins - Week 4, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Tennessee
With Houston being shutout against the Patriots last Thursday, DeAndre Hopkins was targeted eight times by Brock Osweiler, resulting in four grabs for 56 yards. He had to fight through double coverage most of the night, but it’s a little concerning that DeAndre has been held to under 60 yards in two of the three games this season. Expect a bounce-back performance on Sunday at home versus the Titans.

HOU WR DeAndre Hopkins - Week 3, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at New England
After registering just 54 yards in the season opener, DeAndre Hopkins torched the Chiefs secondary for seven grabs, 113 yards and his second TD of the season last Sunday. He was targeted a team-high 11 times and will continue to receive plenty of looks from Brock Osweiler. The Patriots have given up the fifth-most passing yards through the first two weeks, so Hopkins should be primed for another good outing.

HOU WR DeAndre Hopkins - Week 2, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Kansas City
Catching passes from new QB Brock Osweiler was like old times for DeAndre Hopkins. In the win over the Bears last Sunday, DeAndre caught five balls for 54 yards and a TD. While rookie Will Fuller stole the show with his 107-yard performance, Hopkins will still see plenty of targets and is a must-start every week.
