Scouting report

TEN RB Derrick Henry - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Cleveland Browns

Henry got equal snaps with DeMarco Murray last week and responded with 19 carries for a career-high 131 yards and a score. He also had 1 catch for 19 yards, giving him 20 touches to 16 for Murray. And Murray is dealing with a hamstring injury. If Murray doesn't play or is gimpy, don't be afraid to use Henry as an RB1. If Murray is a full go at practice Friday, given the recent usage, Henry is more of a low-end RB2/flex play in non-PPR leagues. His value is a little less in PPR formats.

TEN RB Derrick Henry - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Indianapolis

Derrick Henry carried the ball only 4 times last week, rushing for a putrid 9 yards. Head coach Mike Mularkey said he needs to use the second-year back more. That is the way things had been trending. But even with a handful more carries, Henry is only worth using as a flex play.

TEN RB Derrick Henry - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Miami Dolphins

Derrick Henry managed just 7 yards on his 6 rushing attempts last week in what was a dog game for the entire Tennessee offense. His carries, however, were just one fewer than DeMarco Murray. Henry has forced this into a timeshare, which is good news for those who own Henry. But it also means he's not going to get enough work to be used as anything more than a flex play in most weeks.

TEN RB Derrick Henry - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Houston Texans

After his big day two weeks ago, Henry got more of a 50-50 split in terms of carries with DeMarco Murray last week, getting 13 compared to 14 for Murray. That added up to 53 yards for Henry, who also had 1 catch for 10 yards. But he played in just 29-of-73 snaps, so buyer beware here. This is turning into a fantasy mess as a timeshare. But at least Henry is getting enough work now to use as a solid flex play.

TEN RB Derrick Henry - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Derrick Henry might not have Wally Pipped DeMarco Murray just yet, but he's getting closer after a 14-carry, 92-yard effort last week with a score with Murray sidelined with a tight hamstring. Mike Mularkey expects Murray to play this week, but if he doesn't, bump Henry up against Seattle's defense, which got gashed on the ground last week. If Murray does play, Henry might have earned a little more playing time, making this more of a true time share in which neither is worth more than a low-end No. 2 RB start. The water is getting muddy in Nashville.

TEN RB Derrick Henry - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Jacksonville Jaguars

Derrick Henry carried the ball only 6 times for 25 yards last week, as DeMarco Murray played 73% of the snaps. That's what you can look forward to from Henry, as Murray will continue to get the bulk of the action as long as he's healthy. Henry shouldn't be in your lineup.

TEN RB Derrick Henry - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Oakland Raiders

Derrick Henry received 10 carries against the Oakland Raiders early in the season and recorded 45 yards. Henry's no sure bet to get double-digit touches in this one—he had just four games with that many carries last season. As long as DeMarco Murray stays healthy, Henry is only going to get a handful of carries per game. Might that be enough to be used as a flex? Possibly. But there are better options you can turn to.
