The tweet went on to say Guice and the team are hoping he misses only a "few weeks," but they are still waiting for clarity from tests, according to Fowler. Rapoport went on to say the hope is Guice does not need surgery, but the team is doing a full evaluation and no timetable was given. He gained 18 yards on 10 carries and looking like he wasn’t himself, Rapoport added. The team will now turn to Peterson, who was a mysterious scratch in Week 1 against the Eagles.

Gruden: RB carries 'will probably go through' Derrius Guice

Coach Jay Gruden said Monday that running back Derrius Guice — a second-round draft pick who has yet to play a regular-season game — could have an even larger role than expected in the Redskins’ offense.

"...it is about Derrius Guice, how much we faith we have in him to carry the ball,” Gruden said. “We drafted him for a reason. We feel like he can be a first-, second- and even third-round back if needed. The offense, carries-wise, will probably go through him, pretty much.”

Fantasy Impact:

The story said running back coach Randy Jordan predicted a 60-40 split for either Guice or Peterson. The Skins want to run the ball so there should be carries for both, but it sure seems like Guice is trending a little higher at this point based on Gruden's comments.
