CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Duke Johnson was averaging 2.5 receptions per game and was averaging less than 30 yards. But now that Hue Jackson and Todd Haley are gone, the Browns realized Johnson was actually good, and gave him nine targets in the passing game last week. He turned that into nine receptions for 78 yards and two scores in a breakout performance.

It's hard to know if those kinds of numbers will continue, but the post-Jackson and Haley era seems to at least want to get Johnson involved. He gets a dream matchup this week vs. the Falcons who have allowed a league-high 68 receptions to backs in 2018. They're also just one of five teams to give up 500+ receiving yards to backs this season.

Johnson clearly carries more value in PPR formats where he can be viewed as a low-end RB2 play this week. He's more of an RB3 option in standard.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Duke Johnson played just 36 percent of the offensive snaps last week, which was his second lowest of the season. He finished the game with four touches, which tied for his lowest numbers of the year.

Maybe Johnson can get it going this week against the Chiefs, who have allowed the most receiving yards to opposing backs this season. But it's hard to trust him based on his usage so far. He's not really a valuable fantasy option in Week 9.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Pittsburgh Steelers

With Carlos Hyde gone we thought Duke Johnson, a veteran, might see an increase in touches, but that wasn't the case. Johnson had another poor outing, catching all four of his targets for 23 yards while losing four yards on just one carry.

Johnson isn't getting enough touches to be relevant in fantasy and will only be useful if he makes a big play.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Despite only getting two carries last week, Duke Johnson led the Browns in rushing with 36 yards. He also finally had value as a receiver, catching 4-of-5 targets for 73 yards. His usage wasn't increased (he's had six touches in three straight games), but he was more efficient with what he had.

Since Johnson hasn't had more than six touches in a game this season, we don't really expect him to do too much. He does get a favorable matchup against the Bucs this week, who have struggled against pass-catching backs. Johnson isn't much more than a really low-end RB3.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Duke Johnson tied his season high in rush attempts (5) and set a season high for rushing yards (35) last week, but only came away with one catch. Johnson's usage has been very low in 2018, which is a stark difference from his output a season ago. At this point, he doesn't hold much value in fantasy.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Duke Johnson played his lowest percentage of offensive snaps last week, although he did have his most productive game. He finished with four receptions on six targets for 45 yards, and added 11 yards on two carries. He's still not being used a ton, and the emergence of Nick Chubb is a little worrying for Johnson owners. At this point, Johnson holds very little value in fantasy.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Oakland Raiders

At this point last season Duke Johnson had 204 total yards, 11 receptions and 1 TD. In 2018, he has 68 total yards, five receptions and zero TDs. Johnson is a talented back, but he hasn't been able to show it so far in Cleveland this season.

He certainly doesn't look like the same back we saw in 2017 and is mostly off the fantasy radar at this point.
