Scouting report

BUF RB Frank Gore - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs New England
With Devin Singletary out, Frank Gore has taken over the No. 1 running back spot for the Bills. Over the past two games, he has 37 touches for 172 yards and two touchdowns so he has been a good fantasy find early in the season.

Even with the touches, we don't expect similar numbers this week against the Patriots who are 8th in aFPA to running backs. This should be a defensive battle and all the Buffalo skill players will probably not be productive.

Because he will get the ball a lot, Gore still has value Week 4 as an RB3. But don't expect him to win your league for you this week.

BUF RB Frank Gore - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Cincinnati
Frank Gore continues to be the No. 1 running back on the Bills depth chart and Week 2 he had 21 touches for 83 yards and a touchdown. The veteran still can play and will remain a part of the offense as long as he stays healthy. But how long can he hold off Devin Singletary who has been more successful in the minimal touches he has had.

For Week 3, the Bills face the Bengals who were 29th in aFPA to running backs last season. The matchup is very good, but we expect Gore's touches to start being scaled back. Keep him on the bench against Cincinnati.

BUF RB Frank Gore - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at New York Giants
Frank Gore carried the ball 11 times, the most on the team, for only 20 yards. The Bills offense wasn't great but it was a disappointing debut for the veteran running back.

Gore is still listed the No. 1 running back in the Bills depth chart, but it's only a matter of time before rookie Devin Singletary takes over that role.

Gore should not be considered for your lineup this week and probably will not be much of a fantasy factor in 2019.

BUF RB Frank Gore - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New York Jets
After spending one season with the Dolphins, veteran running back Frank Gore moves to his fourth NFL team. It looked like Gore would be buried in Buffalo's running back rotation, but with the release of LeSean McCoy, Gore will play a prominent role with the Bills.

Gore did rush for 722 yards in 2018 and also averaged 4.6 yards per carry, but did not score a rushing touchdown despite 156 carries. The Buffalo running game will improve, but probably not enough to make any of their backs prominent in fantasy for 2019.

Gore faces the Jets who were 20th in aFPA to running backs last season. New York's defense should be better and the Bills will probably struggle early in the season. Gore should remain on the waiver wire to start the season until you see what Buffalo has in store for the running game.

MIA RB Frank Gore - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Minnesota Vikings

Miami may have pulled off a miracle last week, but heading on the road to Minnesota this week may require the second coming. The Dolphins have an implied team total of just 18.5 points and are touchdown underdogs. The Vikings also rank ninth in aFPA to RBs. Plus, here are Kenyan Drake's touches over the past three weeks: 13,9,7. Here are Frank Gore's touches over the past three weeks: 15, 9, 13. Considering Gore doesn't add much in the passing game and stiff match-up this week, he's likely too risky for lineups.

MIA RB Frank Gore - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New England Patriots

The Dolphins host the Patriots, a situation Miami has surprised in the past, but not worth banking on in the fantasy playoffs. The Dolphins have a bottom six implied team total this week of fewer than 20 points. New England ranks just above league average in aFPA to RBs. Kenyan Drake's past success against this team, combined with solid passing game usage keeps him on the RB2 radar for PPR leagues in Week 14. But that's the only situation we'd feel comfortable starting Drake when it is now win or go home. Frank Gore simply can't be trusted in any format with a poor offense and little passing game usage.

MIA RB Frank Gore - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills rank first in aFPA to QBs. That should mean more work for Miami backs this week against a Buffalo defense that ranks just 21st in aFPA to RBs. Kenyan Drake has been limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday. His status needs to be monitored. If he's able to suit up, Drake should maintain RB2 numbers in PPR formats against a Bills defense he has double-digit PPR production against in his last three games. That would mean Frank Gore stays out of fantasy lineups; however, if Kenyan Drake is inactive, Frank Gore becomes a viable RB2 for Week 13.
