Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress said Friday that receiver Greg Camarillo's role in the offense will increase.

Fantasy Impact: 

Camarillo is a poor man's Wes Welker. If the Vikings learn how to use him, his fantasy value could increase.

WR Percy Harvin Will Handle Kickoff Returns

With Darius Reynaud off to New York, Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin will return to his kickoff return role and also could factor down on the line on punt returns, although Bernard Berrian and Greg Camarillo are expected to handle those duties in Thursday's opener at New Orleans.

Harvin missed most of camp and played in only one preseason game while grieving the death of a grandmother and battling migraine headaches. He continued to express optimism on Sunday that the team and doctors have gotten the migraine situation under control by limiting his stress and examining his diet, down to certain types of salt in the foods he eats.

"I ran all the plays with the ones (Sunday)," Harvin said. "Feel good. I work on my own sometimes as far as conditioning-wise. So, I feel great flying around (Sunday), and we'll see."

Fantasy Impact: 

In leagues that factor in returns (either with yardage or touchdowns or both), Harvin is a player you want to have. Of course, he's probably someone you wouldn't mind having in pretty much any format. He should be considered a risky pick, but one with lots of upside.

Opening night is less than two weeks away and Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings are still trying to figure out exactly what they have in a banged-up receiving corps and a rotating offensive line.

They took some steps in the right direction Saturday night during the team's 24-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Favre’s two newest targets made pretty good impressions just days after arriving in Minnesota.

Greg Camarillo had four catches for 47 yards and Javon Walker made a great catch over Walter Thurmond for a 25-yard TD from Sage Rosenfels in the fourth quarter.

Favre, who was coaxed back for a 20th NFL season on Aug. 18, played eight series on Saturday night. He led the Vikings to one field goal and a touchdown, a 24-yard run by Adrian Peterson that was set up by a 73-yard kickoff return by Darius Reynaud.

Peterson finished with 37 yards on 11 carries.

The Vikings also had to be encouraged by Percy Harvin’s return. The reigning offensive rookie of the year has only practiced six times this preseason because of recurring migraine headaches, including a bout that caused trainers to call an ambulance to practice just over a week ago.

Harvin had two catches for 30 yards.

Will Walker help the Vikings?
Of course not, Javon Walker had no explosion in his lower body before he signed the big contract with the Oakland Raiders, and that was three years ago.

Not much can be expected of him now. At this point of the season, what choices are available to the injury-riddle receiving group of the Vikings? Trading for Greg Camarillo will help when the Vikings play teams that feature more zone coverage than tight man-to-man, but the problems that will arise for the Vikings without Sidney Rice, or maybe even Percy Harvin, is when teams press the wide outs and force Brett Favre to hold onto the ball a little longer than he wants. The Vikings need both Rice and Harvin back and healthy to be the explosive offense of a year ago.
