Scouting report

ATL TE Hayden Hurst - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs Chiefs

Hurst finally found the end zone again in Week 15, his first score since Week 6. Kansas City has been up and down against the tight ends, including in recent weeks, though they did hold Jared Cook in check last week. Hurst sits right in TE2 territory as he's been a classic roller-coaster tight end all season long.

ATL TE Hayden Hurst - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Buccaneers

If you've rolled with Hayden Hurst this long, more power to you for hanging on. Take away his performance against the Raiders (4-48-0), he has two catches for 16 yards in the two games against the Saints and last week against the Chargers. If there's a positive for this week, it's that Tampa Bay allowed two Minnesota tight ends to crack 40 yards receiving and Irv Smith Jr. also scored a touchdown.

ATL TE Hayden Hurst - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs Chargers

Hayden Hurst simply had nothing against the Saints and has just one catch for nine yards in two games. He's at least done with them, but that's been the story of Hurst's 2020 season: absolute inconsistency. The Chargers do rank 30th against the tight end in our matchup rankings, but Hurst's up-and-down season makes him a bit of a risky play to start the playoffs, coming in at No. 16 this week for fantasy tight ends.

ATL TE Hayden Hurst - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs Saints

Hayden Hurst eventually has to catch a pass against the Saints, doesn't he? In his last two games against the Saints, he has four total targets. That has resulted in a goose egg. Here's hoping he turns it around for those that are either fighting for a playoff spot or beginning their playoff run this week.

ATL TE Hayden Hurst - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Raiders

Well, that was pretty disappointing. Hurst just disappeared last week with only two targets and posting a goose egg for fantasy. Hurst faces a middle-tier defense against opposing tight ends but is also dealing with an injury of his own (ankle). Hurst did not practice Wednesday so he's another one to monitor in Atlanta.

ATL TE Hayden Hurst - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs Saints

Hurst is finally becoming a consistent part of the Falcons offense. He's averaging about seven targets, six catches and about 61 yards over the last three weeks before the bye. He's played at least 70% of the snaps in each of the last five games. He's getting the opportunities and starting to make more out of them. Now he's looking for his first touchdown since Week 6.

ATL TE Hayden Hurst - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Broncos

Hayden Hurst is finally coming alive. Week 8 marked the second straight game with seven targets for Hurst and third straight, and fourth out of five, with at least 50 yards for Hurst, Hurst also could be third in line in the passing pecking order this week if Calvin Ridley cannot play with his foot injury. Hurst is solidly a starting option at the tight end position again, making up for his quiet start to the season.
