Lions RB LeShoure could get most carries

A healthy Mikel Leshoure probably gets the largest percentage of the carries, especially if he comes back and looks as good as he did the first two weeks of training camp last year.

Jahvid Best will get plenty of touches as both a runner and receiver, much like the Lions have used him the last two years and much like the Saints use Darren Sproles.

Kevin Smith said this offseason he thinks around 10 or more carries per game would be ideal for him as a third runner.

Fantasy Impact: 

This is the first indication of who might have the most value among these three backs. Best is still the best PPR option, but the way things are trending, LeShoure may have the value in standard leagues and seems likely to snag some goal line TDs as well.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Lions RB situation is a bit of a mess with Kevin Smith and Jahvid Best also in the mix for carries. LeShoure seems like he'd be in line to get change-of-pace carries, short yardage touches and goal line chances at this stage, but it's a situation to watch up to the draft. All three rank between 38-41 in standard leagues, with LeShoure's ADP in the 12th round in ten-team leagues.

When the Lions' power back Mikel Leshoure returns from his two-game suspension to face Tennessee's 24th-ranked run defense in Week 3, the Lions expect to pair Leshoure's shock with Jahvid Best's awe.

"It just adds another weapon to our offense," Best said of the inside-run component Leshoure brings. "The more things defenses have to worry about, the more opportunities we'll have."

Fantasy Impact: 

Not only is Best in a likely timeshare, but he also has had major concussion issues dating back to college.

Beat writer Tim Twentyman was asked about Detroit Lion RB Mikel Leshoure and if he'd be ready for training camp:

"After seeing him cut and burst last day of minicamp, I'd say yes."

Fantasy Impact: 

The Lion RB situation is a bit of a mess right now. Jahvid Best, Leshoure and Kevin Smith are all coming off injuries last year and are in the fold to see action this season. Leshoure is a big back who is certain to take goal line TDs away from the other guys. All three are ranked pretty close, between 37 and 41, and have their strengths and weaknesses so some things will need to shake out before draft day.
