TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Carolina Panthers

Jameis Winston returned last week after missing part of Week 6 with an injury, and he looked just fine. Winston threw for a season-high 384 yards against the Bills, finishing with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Winston now has 300+ yards in four straight games (excluding the game he didn't finish).

Winston gets a somewhat difficult matchup this week against the Panthers. Carolina has held QBs to no scores in three games this season, but they have allowed some big games to the position as well. Considering how much Winston likes to throw the ball, we expect he'll be just fine, and he can be viewed as a QB1 this week.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Buffalo Bills

Jameis Winston says he's ready to play on Sunday after leaving last week's game early with a shoulder injury. Before last week, Winston had thrown for 300+ yards in three straight games. The Bucs continued that tradition last week with Winston finishing with 61 yards while backup Ryan Fitzpatrick put up 290 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The purpose of that is to say the Bucs' passing attack has been one of the league's best this season, at least for fantasy purposes. If Winston is healthy and able to play this week, he could find success. The only big problem is he faces a tough matchup in the Bills.

The Bills are allowing the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs this season, highlighted by the fact they've only given up 2 passing scores all season. Winston is a middle-of-the-pack option with his injury and poor matchup.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Arizona Cardinals

As expected, Jameis Winston was able to take advantage of the poor Patriots defense last week, throwing for 334 yards. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, though, he only had one touchdown in the game. It's still a decent outing, though, as Winston now has three straight games of 300 yards or more.

His success should continue again this week in a favorable matchup against the Cardinals. Arizona just allowed a 300-yard game to the Eagles last week, and have given up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season.

Winston should be viewed a strong QB1 play this week.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New England Patriots

Jameis Winston has now had back-to-back multi-touchdown, 300-yard passing games. His Week 4 performance (third game of the season) was his best so far as he finished with 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He's clearly found a groove this season and is putting up big numbers.

We expect Winston's success to continue this week as he gets a juicy matchup against the Patriots. New England's defense was feared a year ago, but this season they have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Every week the Pats have allowed a 300-yard passer, which bodes well for Winston.

Given Winston's success early in the season and this matchup against the Patriots, the Tampa Bay QB should be viewed as a must-start option. He's easily one of the best QB plays this week.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. New York Giants

Jameis Winston had a strong outing last week, throwing for 328 yards and 2 scores, but he hurt himself by throwing 3 interceptions as well. If Winston could limit his turnovers, he'd be an easy QB1 most weeks, but he just hasn't been able to get past that hurdle.

As for this week, Winston faces a surprisingly tough Giants pass defense. The G-Men are allowing the sixth-fewest passing yards per game, the seventh-fewest yards per attempt, and have given up only four passing scores.

Winston isn't a bad option this week, but with the tough matchup he slides a bit further than usual in our rankings. He's a serviceable QB if you need him, but there could be a better option out there.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Minnesota Vikings

Jameis Winston had a poor fantasy outing last week in his first game of the season, although it wasn't really his fault. Tampa's defense forced four turnovers, including a score, which meant Winston didn't really need to do a whole lot. That's why he finished with only 204 passing yards and 1 touchdown. He didn't even finish the game as he was pulled in the fourth quarter as a precautionary measure.

Winston remains a strong fantasy option moving forward, although he draws a difficult matchup this week against Minnesota. The Vikings have a tough defense, and it pushes Winston back to the QB2-range instead of being considered a QB1 option. He's not a bad option if you have no one better, but just know going in that he could struggle.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Chicago Bears

Jameis Winston was off last week, but he looked great in the preseason. He made a few mistakes, but most of the drives he led ended up with a scoring opportunity. Expect that a lot from the Bucs in 2017, as they added a few more offensive weapons to surround their young quarterback with.

This week, Winston gets a favorable matchup against the Bears—a defense that allowed over 321 yards through the air last week to Matt Ryan. We like Winston this season, so when he gets a favorable matchup like this, he's an easy QB1 play.
