Scouting report

GB RB James Starks - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at San Francisco
Starks got seven more carries than the 10 that a hobbled Eddie Lacy had last week, but he produced just 32 yards. That won't force the Packers to get him any additional carries. The 49ers have allowed five rushing touchdowns the past two weeks, but with Lacy now having another week of rest under his belt and no setbacks, look for Starks to go back to being a part-time player and non-fantasy factor again.

GB RB James Starks - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Kansas City
Starks had 95 yards on 20 carries subbing for the injured Eddie Lacy, who went out in the first quarter, last week. Lacy could wind up being a game-time decision this week against a tough KC run defense. It's a Monday night game, which means you might have to go right up until game time to figure this one out. If you own both players, great. If not, you're stuck waiting to see what the Packers will do, unless Mike McCarthy chooses to make a declaration early.

GB RB James Starks - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Seattle
Starks saw just two carries for two yards last week. That's good news for Eddie Lacy owners. It's not such good new if you're counting on Starks.

GB RB James Starks - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Chicago
The Packers will continue to spell Eddie Lacy at times with James Starks, which means five to 10 carries per game for the backup RB. That's not likely enough to help you win this week unless he gets a goal line touch or two. He only had two rushing scores last season, however, so don't expect that to happen.

GB RB James Starks - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
James Starks is the No. 2 back in Green Bay behind Eddie Lacy. He will also get a couple of series per game in relief of Lacy.

Fantasy Downside
Five to 10 carries per game isn't going to cut it, so unless Lacy is injured, Starks is a bit player.

Bottom Line
Starks is purely a handcuff, despite getting five to 10 carries per game. If you take Lacy, you might as well grab Starks later.

GB RB James Starks - Week 20, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

James Starks Playoffs vs. Seahawks
James Starks got his usual handful of carries last week against Dallas, putting up 16 yards on five carries. He had 37 yards on seven carries in the opener against Seattle, but with his workload limited by Eddie Lacy, he's not going to get a ton of work - or yards.

GB RB James Starks - Week 19, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

James Starks Playoffs vs. Cowboys
With Aaron Rodgers hurting and the weather expected to be rough, the Packers will lean on their running game. But that won't mean more than a handful of carries for James Starks. You can do better elsewhere.
