Fantasy Upside
Jameson Williams has had a roller coaster of a ride through his first two seasons in the NFL but did show plenty of promise by the end of 2023. Between Weeks 15 through the playoffs, Williams accounted for 25 targets and 25% of the team’s Air Yards Share, leading the team with a 14.7 average depth of target. Now with Josh Reynolds out of town, he is slated to line up in 2WR sets from Week 1. And with Amon-Ra St. Brown absolutely terrorizing defenses as an underneath option, 2024 could finally be the year Williams flashes his speed and becomes a player who can explode in fantasy lineups.
Fantasy Downside
Unlike other WR2 options across the league, Jameson Williams is never going to be a No. 2 option in the Lions' passing attack as long as St. Brown and Sam LaPorta are in town, and there's a good chance RB Jahmyr Gibbs earns more targets than him, as well. He also has next to zero regular-season production to point to despite being taken with the 12th-overall pick back in 2022.
2024 Bottom Line
Jameson Williams has a wide range of possible outcomes in 2024, which makes him an interesting conundrum when you're looking at his name in the double-digit rounds. On the one hand, he looks like an incomplete project heading into his third NFL season, which should give everyone pause. On the other hand, it seems like he has all but locked in a WR2 role on one of the best offenses in the league, with teammates who can clamp the defense in the short-to-intermediate areas of the field, leaving him with the ability to get behind DBs. All-in-all, his risk/reward balance makes him a target, with the possibility for massive weeks.
