OAK TE Jared Cook - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at San Francisco 49ers (Thursday)

Here's how the targets played out in Oakland's first game without Amari Cooper: Jalen Richard 8, Jared Cook 5, Jordy Nelson 4, Seth Roberts 4, Brandon LaFell 4, Doug Martin 2, Keith Smith 1. Feels like Washington West, huh? Derek Carr, like Alex Smith, did not heavily target his receivers. In a great match-up with potential added possessions due to the possibility of San Francisco starting a third-string quarterback, fire up Cook as an upper tier option in Week 9

OAK TE Jared Cook - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Indianapolis Colts

It's hard to know what to expect from the Raiders pass catchers now in terms of fantasy production with Amari Cooper traded. The one reliable volume option should be Jared Cook, but this is more about how shallow fantasy TE is this season. Without many reliable options, you're basically starting Cook by default, since he's no worse than second in the target pecking order in Oakland with Cooper gone. Negative game script and the Colts ranking a little worse than league average in aFPA to TEs should make for a solid fantasy day for Cook in Week 8.

OAK TE Jared Cook - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Seattle Seahawks (London)

Jared Cook is fourth among TEs in targets per game with more than eight per contest. He had his worst week in Week 5, but his production prior to that is at the level where you keep starting Cook in fantasy lineups, unless you have one of the big three names at the position. The position is too thin in fantasy this season to mess around with not playing Cook in Week 6. The match-up is decent too, as Seattle is just 18th in aFPA to TEs.

OAK TE Jared Cook - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Los Angeles Chargers

This game has the second-highest over/under of Sunday and Monday's games, and Jared Cook is the late-round TE so many fantasy owners were hoping for this season. The position has been decimated with poor play and injuries. Cook's two monster games this year though are enough to put him into high-end TE1 consideration for Week 5. His floor remains low each week though, especially against a Chargers defense that ranks 4th in aFPA to TEs.

OAK TE Jared Cook - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Cleveland Browns

Cleveland ranks second in aFPA to TEs, but Jared Cook is averaging more than seven targets per game. That can't be ignored at the extremely thin tight end position. With a minimum of eight points in each of the first three weeks (PPR scoring), Cook is a reliable TE1 in a passing offense lacking established or above-average targets.

OAK TE Jared Cook - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Miami Dolphins

The Raiders have the dreaded cross-country, early eastern time zone kickoff Sunday in Miami. Las Vegas has taken note, too, as the Raiders have a low 20.5-point implied team total. However, the Dolphins gave up more than 100 yards in Week 1 to Titans tight ends before playing a Jets team that doesn't feature a TE. Given how thin it gets at TE after the elite options each week, Cook's 4-49 last week wasn't terrible. Plus, the Raiders don't have many options outside of Amari Cooper. Targets should continue to come his way. He's a TE1 option.

OAK TE Jared Cook - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Denver Broncos

Well, hello again, Jared Cook. Care to stick around for another week, or will you again perform your fantasy vanishing act after a big performance? If Cook is going to follow up Week 1 with another fantasy gem, he has the right matchup. Denver just gave up more than 100 yards to some Seattle rookie tight end nobody had ever heard of until last week. If Will Dissly can go off against Denver, why can't Jared Cook have a decent day? Cook was a low-end TE1 in 2017. It's safe to consider him a TE1 again in Week 2.
