CLE WR Jarvis Landry - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Jarvis Landry occupied his typical possession role in Week 1, catching 5-of-6 targets for 61 yards. Baker Mayfield's continued struggles put a low ceiling on the Browns offense as a whole but Landry can still salvage fantasy value as a checkdown option, particularly because Mayfield struggles with pressure. Landry has become Mayfield's most efficient receiver with Odell Beckham continuing to struggle downfield. The Browns host the Bengals in Week 2 and Landry should be able to manage a flex-worthy performance, especially in PPR formats.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Jarvis Landry exploited his matchups in the slot against Baltimore last year to the tune of 15 receptions for 241 yards over two games. The Ravens present a strong secondary, but if they are vulnerable anywhere it is in the slot where Landry thrives. The Browns are heavy underdogs in their road opener against the vaunted Ravens, meaning the Cleveland passing game projects for good volume and Landry is a leading candidate to take advantage. Landry looks like a WR2 for Week 1 and could easily finish the game as Cleveland's top receiver.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jarvis Landry quietly had the most efficient season of his career last year. Landry’s 83 receptions were a far cry from his career-high of 112, yet he still managed to set a career high in receiving yards (1,174) due to his seventh place finish among wide receivers in yards after the catch and 26.6% target share in the Cleveland offense. The result of Landry’s efficiency was a 12th place finish among wide receivers in PPR scoring. By now there should be an alarm going off in the heads of observant fantasy drafters who would note Landry is currently being drafted as a WR3. Landry’s draft stock appears to be suffering from the perception that he only catches short passes over the middle of the field. His underlying metrics from last season show that this is just not true. Furthermore, Landry has the most established rapport with quarterback Baker Mayfield of anyone in the Browns’ offense. Landry projects as a value at his current ADP.

Fantasy Downside
Landry’s target share has room for regression, and the Browns will be hoping for greater contributions out of Odell Beckham, Kareem Hunt and their tight ends in the passing game this season. Landry may be getting more efficient as he gets older, but a reduction in volume is always concerning for fantasy purposes. On that same note, Landry will have to adapt to new Head Coach Kevin Stefanski’s run-heavy scheme. While this scheme might result in greater overall offensive efficiency in Cleveland, it will likely cost the pass catchers some targets in the long run.

2020 Bottom Line
Landry is being drafted as a WR3, which would appear to be his floor based on his production with Mayfield under center. Landry presents great value at his current ADP as someone who will be priced as a flex play but could easily return WR2 numbers.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Cincinnati Bengals

Jarvis Landry looked like he was back on the Dolphins last week with a PPR-heavy performance, catching seven passes for 74 yards on nine targets (all team highs). Landry's had a solid 2019 despite a lot of struggles on this Browns offense, already with 1,000 yards on the season. He should have another productive game this week in a favorable matchup against the Bengals. He finished 4-76 against Cincy earlier this season. Landry hasn't scored in four games, but he's still a strong play as a WR1.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Jarvis Landry had one of his worst games of the season last week, finishing with five receptions for a season-low 23 yards and no touchdowns. He faces a Ravens defense this week he had success against earlier in the year with 167 yards (season-high) off of eight catches. Even though Baltimore's defense is strong, it hasn't been that tough on receivers this season. Landry can be viewed as a lower-end WR2 or a strong WR3 this week vs. Baltimore. He's been limited in practice with a hip injury, but he should be fine to play.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Arizona Cardinals

Jarvis Landry led Cleveland in receiving last week, finishing 4-76 on seven targets. He's been limited in practice this week with a hip injury, but he's expected to play. Landry has been productive this year (five yards shy of 1,000) despite the Browns' struggles on offense. His production should continue this week in a favorable matchup against the Cardinals who have allowed the fourth-most receiving yards to wideouts this season. We like Landry as a strong WR2 against Arizona.

CLE WR Jarvis Landry - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Jarvis Landry has played well despite the Browns' offense suffering in 2019. Landry finished with a solid 6-76 last week on 11 targets. Over his last six games, Landry is averaging 80 yards, has scored five times and has seen 10 or more targets five times. Expect another productive outing in Week 14 as he gets a favorable matchup against the Bengals. Trust Landry as a solid WR2 this week.
