DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Houston Texans
Besides a slight lull in Week 11, Javonte Williams has been seeing workhorse usage for the last month or so. He logged another 18 carries last week, and saw six targets in the passing game. Williams only managed 71 scoreless yards against a tough Browns defense, but we all know that volume is king at the RB position in fantasy and that is not an issue for Williams at the moment. Williams gets a significantly better matchup this week taking on a Texans defense that ranks middle-of-the-pack against opposing running games. The Broncos should be able to move the ball against Houston, and with the usage Williams has been seeing recently, he should have a great shot at posting RB2 numbers for fantasy.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Cleveland Browns
Last week, Javonte Williams did not see the same huge volume he had been getting heading into Week 11. Williams still dominated rushing work with 11 carries compared to one each for Samaje Perine and Jaleel McLaughlin, but he lost a bunch of receiving work to his two backups and only finished with two targets and 53 total yards on the day. Part of that was game script, but Perine in particular remains a serious threat to Williams' passing game work and overall workhorse role. Williams will likely see more work with the Broncos being 2.5 point home favorites this week against the Browns, but Cleveland boasts an elite defense that should cause issues for Denver moving the ball. Williams is best thought of as a volatile flex play this week.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Minnesota Vikings
Javonte Williams has re-seized control in the Denver backfield following his return from injury in Week 6. Williams has 62 carries over his last three games to go along with 10 catches on 11 targets in that same span. The Broncos appear content to thrust Williams into a workhorse role whenever he's fully healthy. He will lead the backfield in Week 11 when the Broncos host the Vikings. The Vikings are not a great overall defense, but they have been somewhat difficult for opposing running games this season (6th in fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs). The Broncos could lean on Russell Wilson against a shaky Minnesota secondary, but Williams is a great bet to see 15+ touches regardless and that puts him firmly into starting territory amongst fantasy backs.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 @ Buffalo Bills
Javonte Williams re-seized control of the Denver backfield heading into the Broncos' Week 9 bye. Williams played 65% of the offensive snaps in Week 8, and was used like a workhorse when on the field by a good margin with 27 carries and three catches. Williams didn't post great efficiency, but that's beside the point when his workload resulted in nearly 100 total yards plus a touchdown. Williams has a chance to log another useful performance this week when the Broncos travel to Buffalo to face a Bills defense that has conceded an above-average amount of fantasy points to opposing RBs this year. Williams sets up as a solid RB2 option heading into Week 10.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Javonte Williams saw closer to his typical workload in Week 7. He only played on 54% of the Broncos' offensive snaps, but he racked up 18 total touches and 96 yards on that limited playing time. Jaleel McLaughlin looked like a threat to steal some of Williams' work as recently as last week, but it appears that was overblown as McLaughlin only played 17% of the snaps in Week 7 and saw just six total touches. McLaughlin's reduced playing time is an indication that Williams is fully healthy now, and remains the clear lead back for the Broncos going forward. That being said, Williams and the Broncos have to deal with a strong Kansas City defense this week, one that has been the second-toughest matchup for opposing backs this season. Williams looks like he's set to receive the majority of the backfield opportunities this week, but those touches are unlikely to produce much. Williams is a middling flex option for Week 8.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Green Bay Packers
Javonte Williams returned from injury in Week 6 to play 35% of the offensive snaps and handle 10 carries for 52 scoreless yards. We can expect Williams' snap share to rise as he separates further from the injury that held him out in Week 5, but rookie Jaleel McLaughlin showed some serious juice in his absence and now looks to be part of a backfield that has devolved into a dreaded three-man committee. It's especially concerning that both McLaughlin and Perine have shown themselves to be competent pass catchers, leaving Williams with zero targets last week. The Packers are a soft matchup for opposing ground games, but Williams is now splitting work with two other backs and cannot be trusted as anything more than a low-floor flex option.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Chicago Bears
Javonte Williams has recorded between 13 and 17 touches in all three games this season as he works as Denver's lead back ahead of Samaje Perine. That type of workload coming off a major injury is a great sign, but the backfield touches in Denver have not proven to be very valuable so far in 2023. Williams has yet to clear 65 yards from scrimmage in any game this season and is still looking for his first touchdown. The Broncos' rushing attack didn't stand much of chance in Week 3 as Denver fell into the ultimate negative game script and ultimately lost 70-20, but better days could be on the horizon in Week 4 when Williams and the Broncos face off with the Bears and their awful defense. Williams' locked-in workload and excellent matchup make him a worthy flex option this week.
