Scouting report

CHI QB Jay Cutler - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jay Cutler - Week 12 vs. Tampa Bay

Jay Cutler had a solid outing last week against Minnesota. He threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately he didn’t stop committing turnovers. He had two interceptions in the game and now has 10 interceptions in his last seven games (and four fumbles). After a while those turnovers start to add up into negative points.

Even with the turnovers, Cutler is able to provide great fantasy production. He should have another good outing this week against Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have allowed 300-yard games five times to quarterbacks this season.

Look for Cutler to be among the top of the list when it comes to QBs this week. He should be used as a QB1.

CHI QB Jay Cutler - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jay Cutler - Week 11 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Jay Cutler is going through a rough stretch of games lately. In his last five games he's committed 10 turnovers and isn't scoring to make up for it. In three of those five games he's thrown just one touchdown.

His situation won't get much easier this week against Minnesota. The Vikings are allowing the fourth fewest points to opposing QBs. No quarterback has thrown for 300 yards against Minnesota and four have failed to reach 200 yards. The Vikings have also held passers to one touchdown or less in five games this season.

Cutler has the talent and the weapons around him to turn things around, but it may not happen this week. He's a low-end QB1 in a difficult matchup.

CHI QB Jay Cutler - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jay Cutler - Week 10 vs. Green Bay

Jay Cutler is coming off of a bye week. He's also coming off one of his stronger fantasy outputs this season. In Week 8 he threw three touchdowns against a tough Patriots secondary. Most of his points came in garbage time, but it doesn't make a difference in fantasy.

This week he'll face the Green Bay Packers for the second time this season. When he faced them in Week 4 he threw for 256 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Not a terrible day, but not a stat burner, either. Lately the Packers have struggled against QBs. In the first five games of the season the Packers allowed five passing touchdowns, in the last three games they've allowed seven.

Look for Cutler to throw numbers similar to what he did in Week 4. With so many teams on bye, he should finish with QB1 numbers.

CHI QB Jay Cutler - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jay Cutler - Week 8 vs. New England

Jay Cutler has not been playing well lately. He's had just one passing touchdown in each of his last two games. Even worse, he's turning the ball over at a high rate. He has seven turnovers in his last four games.

His problems won't get much easier this week against a tough Patriots secondary. New England is allowing the third fewest points to opposing quarterbacks this season. They haven't had any quarterback reach the 300-yard mark.

Cutler is capable of having a big performance, but his turnovers are damaging his overall value. If he can limit his turnovers against New England he can still be valuable. He's a low-end QB1 option this week.

CHI QB Jay Cutler - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jay Cutler - Week 7 vs. Miami

Jay Cutler had his first game of the season without multiple touchdowns last week, but he still had a good performance. He threw for 381 yards against a poor Falcons defense. He's now averaging about 280 yards a game.

This week he'll face a Miami defense that's allowed eight passing touchdowns over the last three games. The Dolphins don't allow many yards though. They are eighth in the league in fewest yards per game allowed.

Cutler is a top option when it comes to fantasy quarterbacks and the Dolphins aren't a horrible matchup. He should continue to be used as a QB1.

CHI QB Jay Cutler - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jay Cutler - Week 6 vs. Atlanta

With Jay Cutler you get the good and the bad. The good? He's thrown at least two touchdowns in every game this season. The bad? He's thrown two interceptions in three games, including his last two. On top of the interceptions, he's also lost two fumbles this season. If you're in a league that takes away points for turnovers Cutler has done a lot of harm.

This week he faces a Falcons defense that has only allowed five passing touchdowns through five games. The Falcons aren't exactly tough on quarterbacks, but it's not an easy matchup by any means.

Cutler has enough talent around him to make him QB1 worthy every single week. If he can just cut down on the turnovers he'd be an even better option.

CHI QB Jay Cutler - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jay Cutler - Week 5 vs. Carolina

Jay Cutler has had a solid start to the season so far. He's had multiple touchdowns in every game and is averaging over 250 yards. Last week was a bit of a downer as he threw two interceptions, but he was still serviceable.

He faces the Panthers this week who have allowed multiple TD passes in three out of four games this season. Last week against Baltimore they gave up 327 yards and three touchdowns. It's not a dream matchup, but it's certainly not a tough one.

Cutler is a low QB1 play this week.
