A source close to Donovan Mcnabb's doctor said he will most likely miss 3-4 weeks and the injury is more serious than first thought. He is recommending at least 3-4 weeks but McNabb could play if he takes a lot of pain killers. However, he is strongly advising against that because if he takes another hit to those ribs, he may be lost for the year. He could be out for at least a month though, which is why they picked up Jeff Garcia.

So they can cut someone, put someone in injured reserve, or trade someone. They'll initially try to make a deal, and the candidate to be traded is receiver Hank Baskett.

Jeff Garcia has agreed to a contract to return to the Philadelphia Eagles. That the Eagles felt it necessary to bring back Garcia now may indicate that McNabb's rib injury could take a little longer to heal than anticipated, and the team isn't too confident in Michael Vick's progress as a true option at quarterback.

Yes, they need a backup quarterback for this week. But taking on Garcia and his baggage means that he could have a significant role on the Eagles for a while.

More than anything, the signing of Garcia is an indictment on the development of Kevin Kolb.
