Bills announce that QB Thaddeus Lewis will be promoted from the practice squad and start Sunday against Bengals.

Fantasy Impact: 

It doesn't say a whole lot for Jeff Tuel, who stepped in for E.J. Manuel on Thursday night and didn't look very good. Lewis came over in a trade with Detroit in the offseason, and has decent running ability, but will have a tough matchup against the Bengals in Week 6. Look for WRs Steve Johnson and Robert Woods to take a hit in our rankings this week. The Bills will likely give RBs C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson plenty of work, and both looked good against Cleveland after coming in a bit banged up.

Bills QB E.J. Manuel is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his right knee today.

Fantasy Impact: 

Manuel was walking around on the sideline with a brace on Thursday night, so he may have avoided a more serious injury. With an extra few days to recover it's possible that he could be ready to go for Week 6. If not, Jeff Tuel would likely get another start.

Only a week after the high of believing that undrafted free-agent rookie Jeff Tuel could start for the Bills at quarterback, it looks like we have a reality check.

First-round draft pick E.J. Manuel, who has been out after minor knee surgery, is "healthy and ready to go for Week 1," and Bills coach Doug Marrone is expected to name him the starting quarterback Wednesday, according to Foxsports.com.

Fantasy Impact: 

Manuel is a low-end fantasy option in Week 1, but does have some sleeper appeal as he faces a Patriots defense that was thrown on extensively in 2012. The Bills figure to trail, so Manuel could be throwing early and often in Week 1.

Bills announced QB E.J. Manuel returned to practice today.

Fantasy Impact: 

Despite the fact that the team was preparing Jeff Tuel, we reported last week that Manuel would need to practice in order to play in Week 1. Manuel only did individual drills, not team, but the Bills say he's ahead of schedule. The way it looks now, Manuel has a good chance to be ready, but HC Doug Marone said he'll decide Wednesday.
