DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jerry Jeudy had a mixed bag his rookie year. Despite gaining the sixth most AirYards (1611) among all WRs, the second most targets amongst all rookie WRs (113), and playing without Courtland Sutton for most of the year, he failed to crack 1,000 yards, while also leading all rookie WRs in dropped passes (13) for the year in 2020, which many are putting a lot of emphasis on, but we know at 4for4 that drops have basically a zero correlation when looking at next seasons projections. Jeudy also had the third-highest AirYard market share and did this as a rookie with (43.6%) of the Broncos AirYards. On the other hand, he only saw 74 catchable balls out of 113 targets with Drew Lock, Brett Rypien, and Jeff Driskel. With the addition of Teddy Bridgewater, who seems like the starter for the Denver Broncos, Jeudy should see more favorable targets since Bridgewater had the 8th highest completion percentage among QBs that passed the ball for more than 20+ AirYards. He was also sixth among all qualified rookies in yards per route run, a stat that bodes well for Jeudys efficiency as a WR.

Fantasy Downside
It’s hard to imagine another season of Jerry Jeudy garnering more than 100 targets while failing to eclipse 1,000 yards again, but if Drew Lock were to win the starting job again over Teddy Bridgewater, it would seem like that would be the most likely outcome while Courtland Sutton comes back and gains most of the quality end zone looks while also becoming the alpha WR again in the Broncos WR room. We could also see a scenario where Vic Fangio can’t decide and decides to play musical chairs with his QBs which won’t help the timing and overall chemistry between the QBs and their receiving corps.

2021 Bottom Line
Jerry Jeudy is an exciting second-year wide receiver who has all the tools to blossom and have that second-year breakout that we’ve been seeing as a pattern in the NFL. In 2020 it was DK Metcalf and A.J. Brown. In 2019, it was Calvin Ridley and D.J. Moore. In 2018 it was Juju Smith-Schuster and Chris Godwin. All significantly increased their fantasy point output going from Year 1 to Year 2 in the NFL and Jeudy could be next if Teddy Bridgewater ends up winning the job over Drew Lock. Currently, we’ve got him ranked as the WR34, while he has an UnderDog Fantasy ADP of WR31, the risk is baked in of a QB controversy, his 13 drops from a year ago, and Courtland Sutton coming back but there’s a range of outcomes where Jeudy takes over as the alpha and blows his ADP out of the water, if you feel risky, Jeudy is a great draft pick in your 2021 drafts.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Even though he finished with six grabs for 61 yards on 15 targets in the loss to the Chargers last week, Jerry Jeudy also had numerous drops. The yardage was his most since the mid-November meeting against the Raiders when he led the Broncos with 68 receiving yards. The rookie hasn’t scored in seven straight and is a risky fantasy option for the finale.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Los Angeles Chargers
Drew Lock threw for only 132 yards last week in the loss to Buffalo, with Jerry Jeudy snagging just one pass for 19 yards on five targets. The rookie continues to be unproductive with only four catches in the past four contests. In the November win over the Chargers, he caught four passes for 73 yards but should not be a part of your starting lineup in the rematch.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Buffalo Bills
Even though Drew Lock threw for 280 yards and four scores in the win over Carolina last Sunday, Jerry Jeudy was limited to two grabs for 42 yards on four targets, despite complaining on Twitter about the previous week’s game with “At least I got my conditioning in.” In the past four outings, the rookie has totaled only six receptions for 84 yards and is averaging fewer than 50 yards with just two touchdowns on the season. The Bills have had some problems against the pass but Jeudy makes for a risky fantasy start on Saturday.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Carolina Panthers
Drew Lock threw for only 151 yards in the loss to the Chiefs last week with Jerry Jeudy being limited to just a five-yard catch. It’s been a bit of a disappointing year for the rookie, especially without Courtland Sutton in the mix, as he’s averaged three receptions for 50 yards and has been in the end zone twice. Lock has built a better rapport with Tim Patrick and tends to favor the more experienced receiver. Even though Carolina is below average at stopping the pass, Jeudy is no more than a WR3/flex option.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Kansas City Chiefs
No Broncos WR caught a pass last week versus New Orleans with Kendall Hinton throwing nine times and completing one – to TE Noah Fant. This season Jerry Jeudy has been over the 100-yard mark once and scored just two TDs. The Chiefs held him to only two catches for 20 yards in October but look for a better performance from the rookie in the rematch.

DEN WR Jerry Jeudy - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New Orleans Saints
Drew Lock threw for 270 yards in the win over Miami last week, with Jerry Jeudy being targeted eight times but corralling just three passes for 37 yards. It was the rookie’s lowest totals in a month as Tim Patrick led the Broncos' pass catchers with over 100 yards in what a more balanced offensive approach. In the past six games, Jeudy has been in the end zone only once and likely won’t find pay dirt on Sunday versus the Saints' No. 12 pass defense.
