2022 Fantasy Upside
Last preseason, many fantasy managers were nervous about Joe Mixon because he missed the last 10 games of the 2020 season with a foot injury. The ones who ended up drafting him were rewarded. He was a true workhorse, rushing the ball 292 times for 1,205 yards and 13 touchdowns. Mixon was also involved in the passing game with 42 receptions for 314 yards. It was the first time he eclipsed the 1,200 rushing yard and 300 receiving yard marks in his career. The Bengals did put some money into an average offensive line so that could help Mixon overall.
2022 Fantasy Downside
The Bengals might have one of the best receiving corps in the NFL and their quarterback is heading towards the top tier at his position. So, the Bengals could become somewhat enamored with their passing attack and that could adversely affect Mixon's overall numbers. Don't be surprised if he has less carries and yardage this year.
2022 Bottom Line
As long as he is healthy, Mixon will be a true three-down running back. Although his fantasy numbers could take a step back, he still ranks as a solid RB1 to start the season and should be taken at the end of the first round or early second round of your draft as the No. 8 overall fantasy running back.
