NO TE Josh Hill - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Arizona
How Sean Payton plans to utilize Josh Hill this season remains a mystery. The 25-year-old tight end caught one pass for five yards in the Saints third preseason game and continues to play behind Ben Watson. The assumption is Hill will be used as a sub-package player, but he should still see opportunities in the red zone. Ranked as our TE19 for Week 1, leave Hill on your bench for now and monitor how Payton uses him early in the season. There's still a chance Hill could be a viable TE1 at some point this year.

NO TE Josh Hill - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
While he won't step into the Jimmy Graham role in Sean Payton's offense, Josh Hill will see his snaps rise dramatically this season. At 25 years old, he has more upside than Ben Watson, who has received the majority of first-team reps in camp. Even though he has fallen off the fantasy radar over the past month, Hill could still wind up being a viable starter at some point this season. We can't imagine Payton will ride with Watson all year, as Hill remains the more effective pass-catcher.

Fantasy Downside
Hill had a quiet camp, suffered an undisclosed injury in early August and has watched as Watson has taken plenty of the first-team reps. Nobody really knows what Hill's role will be in Payton's offense, which is transitioning more to a balanced attack with Graham and Kenny Stills in Seattle and Miami, respectively. Owners who decide to take a flier on Hill late in drafts could wind up burning a roster spot on a player in a limited role.

Bottom Line
Fantasy owners assumed Hill would be a top-10 TE with Graham gone, but he hasn't taken advantage of his opportunities this offseason. Now he's more-or-less a TE2 who isn't being drafted in 10-team leagues. Ranked as our TE16, keep an eye on how Payton utilizes his tight ends early in the year. Hill could still wind up being a decent streaming option at some point, but his stock has taken a massive hit this offseason.

NO TE Josh Hill - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16: Hill vs. Falcons
Josh Hill caught two passes for 15 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints’ Week 15 win over the Bears. For Jimmy Graham owners that were somehow still alive last week, Hill’s touchdowns couldn’t have come at a worst time. Despite posting five touchdowns on just 20 targets this season, Hill still isn’t a fantasy option.

NO TE Josh Hill - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15: Hill vs. Bears
Josh Hill didn’t record a catch in the Saints’ Week 14 loss to the Panthers. Even though Jimmy Graham has scuffled, Hill has zero fantasy value as long as Graham is healthy. Avoid him in Week 15.

NO TE Josh Hill - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14: Hill vs. Panthers
Josh Hill caught one-of-two targets for 17 yards in the Saints’ win over the Steelers. Shockingly, Hill saw two more targets and caught one more pass than Jimmy Graham, who was completely held off the stat sheet. Despite outperforming Graham for one week, leave Hill on your waiver wire.
