Scouting report

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Cleveland Browns

Justice Hill actually led the Ravens’ backfield in snaps last week with 63%, but he was held to just 40 yards on his 13 carries. The Ravens look like they may employ a three-back system moving forward, and with Gus Edwards getting the goal line work, Keaton Mitchell getting mop-up work, and Lamar Jackson continuing to put up big rushing numbers, it’s hard to trust Hill to produce in any given week. He’s safe to drop in most leagues.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Justice Hill had four carries and four receptions last week against the Cardinals for a total of 55 yards from scrimmage. Hill is more of a passing-down back than his counterpart, Gus Edwards, so game script affects his role greatly. That said, he’s averaging 8.6 touches per game this season, so he has some fantasy relevance, especially in deeper leagues or as a streaming option on bye weeks. This week, Hill should get similar work against the Seahawks, who rank 18th in aFPA to opposing running backs. This one should be more competitive, but it’s still risky to trust Hill outside of deep leagues. He’s a desperation RB3 option.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Arizona Cardinals

Justice Hill had four carries and one reception for 48 yards last week as the Ravens stomped on the Lions and Hill was in a 50/50 split with Gus Edwards for snaps. Gus got the carries, however, leading the backfield with 14 and scoring a touchdown. This week, Hill has a nice matchup against an Arizona defense that ranks 27th in aFPA to opposing running backs. This seems like a game where the Ravens should stay ahead once again, meaning it’s likely a Gus game. Sit Hill.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Detroit Lions

Justice Hill took a backseat mostly to Gus Edwards last week, but still had eight carries and three receptions for a total of 35 yards from scrimmage. Hill seems to get more passing down work, making him a better bet for work in games where the Ravens are likely to trail or have to put up more points.

This week, Hill faces a tough Lions defense that ranks first in aFPA to opposing running backs. The Lions have a great offense, so Hill might see the field frequently as the Ravens try to keep up on the scoreboard. Hill is still a risky option, but in PPR leagues, he might be worth a gamble as an RB3 or bye-week filler. He’s only rostered in 42% of Yahoo leagues.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Tennessee Titans (London)

Justice Hill had 45 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and four receptions in a loss to the Steelers last week. He also out-snapped Gus Edwards, which is a good sign for his role moving forward, even if it’s a bit capped out as part of a timeshare. Still, receiving production isn’t a bad thing to shoot for when you’re desperately searching the waiver wire for fantasy backs.

This week, Hill has a decent matchup against a Titans defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to opposing running backs. He’s risky to start, but there’s some upside here. He’s only rostered in 28% of Yahoo leagues, so if you needed James Conner or De’Von Achane this week and you’re scrambling, the matchup and receiving production could make Hill worth a desperation play.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Justice Hill returned to action last week after missing a game with injury, and he wound up with three carries for 33 yards. It was surprising that he didn’t log a target after three receptions in Week 2 against the Bengals. Hill will continue to complement Gus Edwards, but it will be tough to estimate exactly how much usage he’ll get in any given week. Even in a nice matchup against the struggling Pittsburgh defense, Hill’s erratic usage and committee membership make him too risky to start in most leagues. Sit him.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Justice Hill had 11 carries and three receptions last week against the Bengals, totaling 53 yards. He led the Baltimore backfield in snaps, but that’s largely because he plays on passing downs, while Gus Edwards gets significant rushes. This is a full-on committee. Hill is dealing with a toe injury, so keep an eye on his status. Either way, with Hill hobbled in a timeshare against a Colts defense that shut down Dameon Pierce last week isn’t a recipe for fantasy success. Sit him.

Update: Hill is out, so if you had him in your lineup, be sure to remove him now.
