Scouting report

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Tennessee Titans (London)

Justice Hill had 45 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and four receptions in a loss to the Steelers last week. He also out-snapped Gus Edwards, which is a good sign for his role moving forward, even if it’s a bit capped out as part of a timeshare. Still, receiving production isn’t a bad thing to shoot for when you’re desperately searching the waiver wire for fantasy backs.

This week, Hill has a decent matchup against a Titans defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to opposing running backs. He’s risky to start, but there’s some upside here. He’s only rostered in 28% of Yahoo leagues, so if you needed James Conner or De’Von Achane this week and you’re scrambling, the matchup and receiving production could make Hill worth a desperation play.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Justice Hill returned to action last week after missing a game with injury, and he wound up with three carries for 33 yards. It was surprising that he didn’t log a target after three receptions in Week 2 against the Bengals. Hill will continue to complement Gus Edwards, but it will be tough to estimate exactly how much usage he’ll get in any given week. Even in a nice matchup against the struggling Pittsburgh defense, Hill’s erratic usage and committee membership make him too risky to start in most leagues. Sit him.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Justice Hill had 11 carries and three receptions last week against the Bengals, totaling 53 yards. He led the Baltimore backfield in snaps, but that’s largely because he plays on passing downs, while Gus Edwards gets significant rushes. This is a full-on committee. Hill is dealing with a toe injury, so keep an eye on his status. Either way, with Hill hobbled in a timeshare against a Colts defense that shut down Dameon Pierce last week isn’t a recipe for fantasy success. Sit him.

Update: Hill is out, so if you had him in your lineup, be sure to remove him now.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Cincinnati Bengals

Justice Hill had a pair of touchdowns last week against the Texans, but he was held to just nine yards on eight carries and was not a part of the passing game. His role looks to expand with J.K. Dobbins out for the remainder of the season, but he’ll still be splitting snaps with Gus Edwards and sharing rushing production with Lamar Jackson. It’s encouraging to see him get red zone work, however, as both his touchdowns came from two yards out.

This week, Hill faces a tough Bengals defense that was pounded by Nick Chubb a week ago, but ranked fourth in aFPA to opposing running backs in 2022. Add Hill to your roster in case his role expands beyond that of Edwards, but take a cautious approach to him this week. We have him ranked as a low-end RB3 option.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Carolina Panthers

Justice Hill has played a complementary role to Kenyan Drake with the rest of the Baltimore running back room injured, but his numbers have continued to be minimal. He had just five touches for 19 yards, including a reception against the Saints before the bye last week. With Gus Edwards likely to return and Drake taking the bulk of the touches, Hill should remain on waivers in all formats.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at New Orleans Saints

Justice Hill stands to benefit if Gus Edwards misses another game. Edwards is nursing a hamstring injury and is questionable going into Monday night. This backfield probably belongs to Kenyan Drake, however, if Edwards is out, making Hill a risky bet for anything more than a few complementary touches. If you’re in a bind and you have both Edwards and Hill, you could play the waiting game. However, you’re probably better off finding another option to bank on this week.

BAL RB Justice Hill - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Justice Hill scored a touchdown last week against the Browns, and he had six touches – including three receptions – for a total of 51 yards from scrimmage. He has some upside this week with Mark Ingram out, and it’s possible he’ll be leaned on as part of a one-two punch with Gus Edwards. The Ravens may sit key starters, giving Hill an opportunity. The Steelers are a tough matchup, but Hill has some low-end RB3 potential in PPR leagues with upside based on increased touches.
