NO TE Juwan Johnson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Detroit Lions

Thanks to all the injuries in New Orleans, Juwan Johnson is back in the fantasy mix this week after seeing seven targets last week, catching four for a season-high 45 yards. You could argue Johnson is currently the best option in the downfield passing game. If so, then he may be worth a look as a starting tight end this week against a Lions defense that has been average against opposing tight ends and in a week where options such as Dalton Kincaid and T.J. Hockenson are both out.

Week 3 at Green Bay Packers

Juwan Johnson has eight targets through two weeks. There are simply too many mouths to feed in New Orleans in Johnson is near the bottom of that group. He may spring for a touchdown and surprise in a given week, but there's nothing right now to suggest he should be in your starting lineup this week against the Packers.

Week 2 at Carolina Panthers

Juwan Johnson saw five targets in Week 1 but only came away with 36 yards on three catches. The Saints have a bunch of receivers already in the mix and the Saints can always line up Taysom Hill at tight end as well (though that didn’t really happen in Week 1). Johnson will always be a tough matchup each week.

Week 1 vs. Tennessee Titans

Juwan Johnson was quietly a solid tight end for the Saints in 2022 and now Derek Carr throwing him the football. But we know by now the Saints also have Taysom Hill, though Hill is now listed as a quarterback on the Saints' depth chart. That caps the potential of Johnson but if the Saints can get into the red zone, which they likely will a few times against the Titans, Johnson becomes a threat to score. If you start him, you're banking on those touchdowns.

Week 17 at Philadelphia Eagles

Juwan Johnson had two touchdowns in Week 15. He had just one catch in Week 16. He's about as volatile at the tight end position as you can get and he faces a tough matchup on the road against an Eagles team trying to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Johnson is a tough play in the fantasy finals as we've seen the high ceiling he provides but also the very low floor he brings.

Juwan Johnson had two touchdowns last week against the Falcons and has a chance to be even more involved in the offense this week with Chris Olave out. Johnson already has a connection with Andy Dalton, so it makes sense to think Dalton will be looking his way even more without Olave. He can be touchdown-dependent some weeks, but there's enough juice here to warrant TE2 consideration.

Week 13 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Juwan Johnson is dealing with a knee injury, which limited him last week against the 49ers. Keep an eye on his status this weekend, especially with the Saints playing on Monday. He did have one of his better games in their first meeting against the Buccaneers in Week 2, catching four passes for 40 yards.
