SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Giants

Yep, Kenneth Walker is him. That's what the cool kids say now, right? Anyway, Walker is cool and this is his backfield now. Two straight games with over 20 carries and he exploded for 167 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Chargers. And hey, the Giants' rush defense ranks 30th in DVOA. It could be another big day for the rookie.

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Los Angeles Chargers

Kenneth Walker is quickly starting to get comfortable in his new role as the feature back in Seattle's offense. He rushed 21 times for 97 yards and a touchdown and was a finalist for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. That success should continue against the banged-up Chargers defense that is still struggling to stop the run, ranking 22nd in DVOA and last in yards per carry allowed. Walker is a borderline RB1 this week in L.A.

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Kenneth Walker now takes over as the top back in Seattle with Rashaad Penny out for the season. Walker has already shown he can be a very good back. He showed it at Michigan State and he showed it last week against the Saints with 88 yards and a touchdown. He will be the guy in the Seattle backfield going forward and the Seahawks may be feeding him plenty with the way they run the football. Walker has RB2 upside as a result, even against a solid Arizona run defense (No. 12 DVOA).

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Kenneth Walker made his NFL debut last week against the 49ers and actually had the same number of touches as Rashaad Penny, though that was only six touches as the game got away from Seattle early and they had to throw more. Penny is still the lead back for the Seahawks, but Walker may start chipping away into Penny's workload. Keep an eye but keep him on your bench for now.

SEA RB Ken Walker - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
The Seahawks clearly have high hopes for Kenneth Walker, as they took the former Michigan State running back with the No. 41 overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft as the second running back off the board. He should at least vault to RB2 on Seattle’s depth chart and may cut into Rashaad Penny’s workload as the season goes on and he gets comfortable in Seattle’s offense, which he fits in very well, scheme-wise.

2022 Fantasy Downside
Walker likely will watch Penny take a majority of the work to start the season, so if you draft Walker, you’ll need a bit of patience. He likely won’t get you much in the passing department either, at least early on. Walker only recorded 16 career receptions in college, 13 of them coming in 2021 at Michigan State.

2022 Bottom Line
Walker will eventually work his way into the Seattle offense, but it’s going to take some time. Be patient in what’s going to be a bit of a rebuilding year in Seattle with either Drew Lock or Geno Smith at quarterback. But with the way Seattle runs the football, Walker may have flex appeal some weeks, especially later in the year. You can get him near round 9 in your draft.
