MIA RB Kenyan Drake - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Dolphins host the Jaguars in a game with a brutally low over/under of just 38 points, second-lowest on the Week 16 slate. Despite being 3.5-point favorites, Miami still only has an implied team total of 20.75 points. The Jaguars rank 10th in aFPA to RBs, and with Frank Gore out for the year now, Kalen Ballage will get the opportunity to be the early-down back against Jacksonville. However, Kenyan Drake splitting the work still keeps this backfield status quo from a fantasy standpoint. Both are risky FLEX options for all the stated reasons in Week 16.

MIA RB Kenyan Drake - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Minnesota Vikings

Miami may have pulled off a miracle last week, but heading on the road to Minnesota this week may require the second coming. The Dolphins have an implied team total of just 18.5 points and are touchdown underdogs. The Vikings also rank ninth in aFPA to RBs. Plus, here are Kenyan Drake's touches over the past three weeks: 13,9,7. Here are Frank Gore's touches over the past three weeks: 15, 9, 13. As electric as Drake is in the open field, Adam Gase just doesn't seem to view him as anything more than a change-of-pace back. That keeps him in very risky FLEX territory again for Week 15.

MIA RB Kenyan Drake - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New England Patriots

The Dolphins host the Patriots, a situation Miami has surprised in the past, but not worth banking on in the fantasy playoffs. The Dolphins have a bottom six implied team total this week of fewer than 20 points. New England ranks just above league average in aFPA to RBs. Kenyan Drake's past success against this team, combined with solid passing game usage keeps him on the RB2 radar for PPR leagues in Week 14. But that's the only situation we'd feel comfortable starting Drake when it is now win or go home. Frank Gore simply can't be trusted in any format with a poor offense and little passing game usage.

MIA RB Kenyan Drake - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills rank first in aFPA to QBs. That should mean more work for Miami backs this week against a Buffalo defense that ranks just 21st in aFPA to RBs. Kenyan Drake has been limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday. His status needs to be monitored. If he's able to suit up, Drake should maintain RB2 numbers in PPR formats against a Bills defense he has double-digit PPR production against in his last three games.

MIA RB Kenyan Drake - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Indianapolis Colts

The Dolphins went from 10-point underdogs to 7.5-point underdogs with the news that Ryan Tannehill would make his return, but Miami's implied team total of 21.75 points is still less than ideal. The Colts are only 19th in the league in aFPA to RBs, but Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake's essentially 50-50 split makes both of them non-starters in standard leagues, when you also consider likely negative game script and the Dolphins near the bottom of the league in plays per game. At best, Kenyan Drake's passing game usage makes him a low-end RB2 option in PPR leagues.

MIA RB Kenyan Drake - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Green Bay Packers

The Brock Osweiler experience continues at Lambeau Field, with the Dolphins having an extremely low implied team total of fewer than 20 points in Week 10. For Kenyan Drake owners, the frustration continues too, as Adam Gase inexcusably only gave Drake seven touches last week. Green Bay is around the league average in aFPA to RBs this season. Due to likely negative game script against Aaron Rodgers, Drake should see enough passing game usage (if Adam Gase acts logically) for Drake to have RB2 production in PPR leagues. He's more of a FLEX in standard leagues.

MIA RB Kenyan Drake - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Jets

Kenyan Drake has seen some promising production in recent weeks, but he continues to rely on extreme efficiency. He's only averaged 13.5 touches over the past month but 19.1 PPR points per game. Pretty insane. Regression is to be expected, but maybe not in a re-match with the Jets, a team Drake produced 70 total yards and a touchdown against in Week 2. It's a heavy bye week and a good match-up, which puts Drake in the RB2 range for Week 9.
