Offensive coordinator Greg Olson has said they were going to give RBs LeGarrette Blount and Kregg Lumpkin a hard look this week, and potentially use Lumpkin in a dual-role (fullback/tailback), depending on FB Earnest Graham's injured hamstring.

Lumpkin said he's had a lot of reps at fullback during practice, and is excited for the potential opportunity. Since getting claimed off waivers Sept. 5, Lumpkin has been active for just two Bucs games, with no carries.

"You've just got to be an all-around back, that's what I'm trying to be," Lumpkin said. "When my number is called, I'll be ready."

Lumpkin said he played fullback before he started as a tailback, but hasn't played the position in the NFL nor at the University of Georgia. He's still trying to catch up on all the Bucs terminology, but has impressed coaches.

"He's an intelligent player, he's got quickness," Olson said. "He's shown some good speed out there."

Roughly three weeks before the Packers open the regular season, Green Bay Mike McCarthy and his offensive staff probably know about as much about their running attack as they did the day training camp opened.

In two exhibition games, starting running back Ryan Grant has carried the ball eight times, two fewer than the team's three quarterbacks.

Quinn Porter, Brandon Jackson and Kregg Lumpkin all have more carries than Grant, who, to be fair, was very limited in the first game because he suffered a concussion.

Fantasy Impact:

Grant has carried the ball just eight times, the article says. Grant projects to be a nice second round option for those looking to go RB/RB with their first two picks, or even take Grant as your RB1. Green Bay's offense is too load for Grant not to be productive, but he's probably a much better fit as a very high-end RB2 on your team.

Brohm is back with the Packers

One day after being cut, quarterback Brian Brohm was back with the Packers.

And while Packers GM Ted Thompson knows this isn't exactly the way Brohm expected his NFL career to go, Thompson insists the former Louisville star can still become a productive player in the pros.

"We haven't given up on him, and we don't think he's given up, either," Thompson told reporters.

Brohm was one of eight players signed to the team's practice squad Sunday.

Also among the team's signings were wide receiver Jake Allen, cornerback Trevor Ford, linebacker Cyril Obiozor, running back Kregg Lumpkin, tackle Jamon Meredith, defensive end Ronald Talley and nose tackle Anthony Toribio.

Brohm was considered a potential NFL star in college but has struggled after slipping to the Packers in the second round of last year's draft.
