ARI QB Kyler Murray - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Washington Commanders
Murray offers far more upside than the pocket passers that he was going well after in drafts and should be considered a bona fide QB1, as a dual-threat quarterback who can single-handedly when you weeks. He has delivered 161 yards on the ground through three weeks, and has been locked in with rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Murray is an easy high-end QB1 click in Week 4.

Murray offers far more upside than the pocket passers that he was going well after in drafts and should be considered a bona fide QB1, as a dual-threat quarterback who can single-handedly when you weeks. ARI QB Kyler Murray - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 @ Buffalo Bills
Even though Murray is short in stature, there's no reason to label him "injury-prone" just because of two freak injuries. He offers far more upside than the pocket passers that he was going well after in drafts and should be considered a bona fide QB1, as a dual-threat quarterback who can single-handedly when you weeks. One of those weeks could be here in Buffalo in a possible shootout.

ARI QB Kyler Murray - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

With a below-average supporting cast, Kyler Murray returned in Week 10 from a torn ACL and preceded to clock in as the QB10 in points per game (18.3) until the end of the season. In response, the team handed him a legit WR1 in Marvin Harrison Jr., a strong backup RB in Trey Benson, a guard, and another tight end by the time the third round of the NFL Draft ended. Despite the ACL recovery, Murray would finish the season with 244 rushing yards and three touchdowns, which shows us what kind of ceiling he could have as he heads into 2024 fully healthy. The boost in offensive weapons and a full year under this Drew Petzing offense could equate to a top-6 positional finish.

Fantasy Downside
The ACL issue was not the first run-in with injuries for the diminutive quarterback in the NFL. In 2021, the year before the knee injury, Murray missed three games with an ankle sprain, a sign that mounting lower-body issues could eventually sap some of the rushing prowess that makes him a fantasy target. Murray had 20 designed QB runs upon his return last year (2.5/game); those could be reduced now that James Conner has a legitimate backup, with Benson alleviating the workload.

2024 Bottom Line
Even though Murray is short in stature, there's no reason to label him "injury-prone" just because of two freak injuries. He offers far more upside than the pocket passers he is going well after in drafts and should be considered a bona fide QB1, as a dual-threat quarterback who can single-handedly when you weeks.

ARI QB Kyler Murray - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Philadelphia Eagles

Kyler Murray hasn’t been great since returning from injury, but he also hasn’t been bad, despite the Cardinals’ 2-4 record with him under center this year. He has nine touchdowns - including three on the ground - and four interceptions, and he averages 31.2 yards per game rushing. Murray had 230 yards and a pair of touchdowns in garbage time in the loss to the Bears last week, salvaging what was looking like a pretty ugly fantasy day.

This week, Murray faces a Philadelphia defense that ranks 26th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. The Eagles should be able to put points on the board against the Arizona defense, so Murray has more garbage-time stat potential this week. Murray’s additional production on the ground gives him a higher floor than your average quarterback, and Murray should be considered a fringe-QB1 option in a nice matchup.

ARI QB Kyler Murray - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Chicago Bears

Kyler Murray struggled along with the rest of the Cardinals in a lopsided loss to the 49ers last week, as Arizona got down early and never really recovered. Murray wound up with 211 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions to go with 49 rushing yards. Murray hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown in either of his past two games after scoring one in each of his previous three, but he’s had 15 rushing attempts in that span. He continues to be a threat on the ground.

This week, Murray faces a Chicago defense that ranks third in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. It’s a tough matchup and his weapons are pretty much all nicked up - aside from phenomenal tight end Trey McBride - so fantasy managers should take a cautious approach with the dual-threat standout. We have him ranked as a fringe-QB1 option.
