Scouting report

NO RB Latavius Murray - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Latavius Murray's fantasy upside is obviously limited by Alvin Kamara. He couldn't get much of a fantasy footing while Kamara was in the lineup, but he really picked up the slack in the two games Kamara missed, totaling over 300 yards and four touchdowns in Weeks 7 and 8.

Fantasy Downside

The Saints have many mouths to feed and he's already a glorified backup unless Kamara is out.

2020 Bottom Line

Murray is the clear handcuff to Kamara in New Orleans and you can get him later in your drafts. If Kamara happens to miss time, Murray has shown he is extremely capable of handling a hefty workload for the Saints. Otherwise, he's a risky weekly play.

NO RB Latavius Murray - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Panthers

Murray again took a backseat in the Saints offense, seeing just nine touches for 25 yards. This week will likely be more of the same but there is the chance that Murray breaks one in his limited opportunities just because of how bad the Panthers' rush defense is.

NO RB Latavius Murray - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Titans

Murray's role over the last few weeks has been pretty well-defined. He plays about a third of the snaps, will see about 7-10 carries and about 2-3 targets. That's nice for the Saints, but not exactly ideal for your fantasy team in the finals.

NO RB Latavius Murray - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Colts

Murray is still being out-snapped by quite a bit by Alvin Kamara. But it was Murray who had the stronger game against the 49ers, with 94 total yards. But Kamara is still the higher presence in the passing game, meaning Murray still comes with some risk at this stage of the season. He is, however, on a run of two of his last three games averaging almost ten yards per carry. It's just the fact he only sees about a third of the offensive snaps. He's a deep flex option if you've rolled with him to this point.

NO RB Latavius Murray - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs 49ers

Murray has started going back to taking a backseat to Alvin Kamara, getting just four carries against the Falcons. Against the 49ers, it's almost a touchdown-or-bust situation. With Michael Thomas leading the way and Kamara playing a handful more of snaps that Murray, Murray is a very risky play in the fantasy playoffs against one of the top, if not the top fantasy defense.

NO RB Latavius Murray - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Falcons

Murray has been working his way into more of an appealing piece of the Saints offense. He only saw four fewer carries than Alvin Kamara, but gained 10 more yards on the ground than Kamara and scored a touchdown. He just still isn’t offering you anything in the passing game. That makes him a low flex option. He would have to greatly improve his numbers from the first Falcons game, however, where he had just 19 total yards,

NO RB Latavius Murray - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Panthers

For just the third time this season, and first with Alvin Kamara playing, Murray saw double-digit rushes in a game. That's the good news. The bad news is that those 10 carries resulted in just 27 yards. He also posted just five yards in the passing game. With Kamara fully back, Murray is back as the secondary option in the backfield.
