But there’s no question the Rams are taking a different approach with Todd Gurley this season, focusing on load management. They re-signed Malcolm Brown, matching the offer he got from the Detroit Lions, and drafted Memphis running back Darrell Henderson in the third round. They aren’t piling everything on Gurley’s shoulders.

Fantasy Impact:

The story said there is speculation he's dealing with arthritis in the joint of his rebuilt knee. The Rams insist he's fine and Gurley said he "felt good" when asked about his performance. The story said Gurley looked good "in spurts" so it's possible the Rams wanted to ease him into Week 1, but the way things look, this is trending to be more of a committee approach with Brown and Henderson also involved.

Longtime backup Malcolm Brown and rookie Darrell Henderson have shared a bulk of the snaps with the starting offense in Todd Gurley's absence.

"The biggest learning point in this game is just having experience," Brown said. "So being able to get the reps during practice when T.G. has those off days, I'm thankful for it, because it's not doing anything but getting me better."

Brown and Henderson could find themselves playing a significant role depending on the status of Gurley, although coach Sean McVay won't commit to any increased playing time.

Fantasy Impact:

McVay said specifically said Brown's workload during the season is yet to be determined. The Rams matched the Lions offer sheet for Brown who was a restricted free agent. McVay called Henderson a "change of pace back" in the story but said it remains to be seen just what kind of work he'll get behind Gurley and Brown.

It seems like Gurley could get a lighter load this season to assure he's ready to go in the postseason. Robinson went on in his tweet to talk about Henderson, and called him "very interesting." He said the plan is for Henderson is to be a Chris Thompson-type. Thompson’s 2016 Redskins film under McVay was a flexible mismatch role. If this holds true, Henderson would have PPR value.
