Maurice Jones-Drew not charged with battery

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been charged with battery after allegedly KO'ing a security guard at the Conch House in St. Augustine, FL.

According to the police report obtained by TMZ, MJD is accused of striking the security guard with a closed fist on the guard's left cheek, knocking him out.

Update: Adam Schefter writes, "Maurice Jones-Drew’s agent, Adisa Bakari, said St. Augstine police about to issue new release saying no charges filed against MJD."

Via ESPN: "Maurice was there and was not involved. As soon as an altercation broke out, Maurice exited the premises. He was not questioned by police immediately after, nor later that day," Bakari said Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact:

These are not the types of headlines players need to be making in the offseason. We'll have to see how the case shakes out over the next few weeks.

MJD has progressed to running sprints

Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) was among nine players who either didn’t practice or weren’t present because of academic commitments.

Jones-Drew said he ran 30 yards at three-quarters speed during the workout.

“That was exciting,” he said. “Lately, it’s been one day on, a day off, two days on, a day off — it’s part of the process.
I’m closer than I think. I just want to take my time and make sure we do it the right way.”

Jones-Drew’s goal is to resume full-scale training for the month leading into the start of training camp the last week of July.

Fantasy Impact:

MJD is one of the league's most productive running backs when healthy. Not only is the foot a concern, but the Jaguars are switching to a zone blocking scheme which isn't always a step forward (i.e. Darren McFadden in 2012).

Fantasy Impact:

Jennings had a chance to make a lot of money last season with Maurice Jones-Drew sidelined but ended up being benched after rushing for just 237 yards on 88 carries (2.7 YPC) from Week 7 to Week 13. He'll compete with Marcel Reece and Jeremy Stewart for carries behind Darren McFadden
