Scouting report

ARI WR Michael Floyd - Week 15, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Philadelphia

Michael Floyd has been solid since returning from injury and he led the team in targets last week with nine. He finished the day with five receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown, and he’s become part of a quadruple receiving threat in Arizona that has opposing defenses shaking.

Floyd should be active in all leagues this week as a solid WR2/3 option against the Eagles secondary. Philadelphia has given up 29 passing touchdowns this season and has struggled on the defensive side of the ball all year. Floyd always has a little risk because of the number of targets in Arizona, but the Cardinals are slowly showing that they can support three fantasy receivers.

ARI WR Michael Floyd - Week 14, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Minnesota

Michael Floyd had a nice game against the Rams last week, putting up 104 yards on seven catches, and he was targeted a team-high 12 times on the day. Floyd will still battle with John Brown for looks in the passing game opposite Larry Fitzgerald, but he seems to be healthy again, and the Cardinal passing game seems to be able to support three fantasy receivers.

Against the Vikings this week, expect Floyd to continue to work his way downfield and to be an active part of the Arizona offense. There is always an element of risk with him, since defensive coverages could force quarterback Carson Palmer to look to one of his other excellent receiving options, but he should be considered a solid WR2/WR3 option in most leagues for as long as he’s healthy.

ARI WR Michael Floyd - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at St. Louis
Michael Floyd had a rough game coming back from an injury. While he was active, he was clearly hobbled, and he wound up with only one catch for 14 yards. Floyd may rebound in a prolific Cardinal passing game, but this week against a tough Rams pass defense probably isn’t right game to hedge on it. Fantasy owners should consider him a low end WR3 option at best this week until he shows that he’s healthy and ready to get back into the action in a legit way.

ARI WR Michael Floyd - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Cincinnati

Michael Floyd had a great game against the Seahawks last week, catching a pair of touchdowns on seven receptions and finishing the day with 113 yards. Floyd has played well in relief of the injured John Brown, and he may have earned his starting job back with his stellar play. The Cardinals offense is humming right now, and Floyd is along for the ride.

This week, Brown may be back and Floyd faces a touch Bengals defense that has only allowed 11 touchdown passes this season. That makes him a little riskier than normal coming off a nice outing, but he should still be considered a solid WR2 option in most leagues. The Cardinals offense has looked matchup proof this season, and the Bengals are less intimidating than the Seahawks were going into last week.

ARI WR Michael Floyd - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Seattle

Michael Floyd had a nice game against the Browns before the bye last week, catching four passes for 106 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter. After a rough start to the season, Floyd has caught a touchdown in his last three games and is threatening John Brown for playing time.

While Floyd is worth an add to your roster in most fantasy formats, it’s hard to trust him this week against Seattle’s tough pass defense. Seattle has only allowed six touchdown passes all year to opposing offenses and Brown should be back healthy this week, making it tough to gauge exactly how productive Floyd will be. Fantasy owners should take a cautionary approach and view Floyd as no more than a low-end WR3 in deep leagues.

ARI WR Michael Floyd - Week 8, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Cleveland

Michael Floyd had 59 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals victory over the Ravens on Monday night. He caught three of the four passes thrown his way and was on the field for two-thirds of the offensive snaps. It’s looking more and more like he’s earned his way back onto the field after struggling early in the season, though likely he’ll remain relegated to 3WR sets.

This week, he faces a Browns pass defense that has given up 11 touchdown passes so far this season and he may benefit from the soft matchup. As a third option in the passing game, Floyd has limited fantasy value, but with a nice matchup and in an offense that has been very good throwing the ball this year, he has some deep sleeper potential as a WR3 in most fantasy leagues. If John Brown misses the matchup, then Floyd's value increases to a low end WR2.

ARI WR Michael Floyd - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Baltimore

Michael Floyd was on the field a lot last week against the Steelers, as the Cardinals used three-receiver sets for a large portion of the game. He wound up with a nice day, catching five of the eight balls thrown his way and catching the only touchdown pass Carson Palmer threw in a losing effort.

This week, Floyd has a nice matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, who have allowed more passing yards this season than all but four teams in the league. However, he’s still risky as the team’s third WR, and it’s hard to imagine him getting another eight targets. The Cardinals are unlikely to throw the ball 45 times again next week, as 32 attempts per game is their season average. Floyd has some deep sleeper ability as a WR3 because of the matchup, but he’s probably better left on the bench.
