Scouting report

TB WR Mike Evans - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Carolina Panthers

Mike Evans finally scored a touchdown last week, his first end zone trip since Week 7. He also had 79 yards on 5 catches and he was targeted 8 times. Evans clearly hasn't lost the talent, but he's just not getting as many looks as he was last season. He's been held to under 100 yards in every game this season, which is rare for someone with Evans' talents.

He gets a favorable matchup this week against Carolina, although it is a team he struggled against in Week 8 when he finished with 60 yards on 5 catches. He could get a few more targets this week, however, if DeSean Jackson is unable to go on his ankle injury. Evans is still a little difficult to trust completely, but he should be a fine WR2 this week.

TB WR Mike Evans - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Mike Evans continued his frustrating stretch of games last week, finishing with just 25 yards on 2 catches. The former obvious WR1 hasn't performed up to his capabilities lately, as he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 7. He's also had just 2 catches in each of his last two games.

He'll look to bounce back this week against the Falcons, a team he caught 6 passes for 78 yards against just a few weeks ago. Evans' lack of use has been frustrating for owners, but he still has appeal as a low-end WR2.

TB WR Mike Evans - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Detroit Lions

Mike Evans was a letdown last week, catching just 2 passes for 33 yards. He's also gone five straight games without a touchdown reception. Evans hasn't been bad this season, but he hasn't been nearly as productive as he was in 2016, as he's projected for lower numbers in every major category (receptions, yards, TDs).

He gets a decent matchup this week against the Lions, although Detroit has only allowed one receiving TD to a WR in the last five games. With Evans struggling, and only having a so-so matchup, he's been dropped down to being a WR2 option instead of a must-start WR1.

TB WR Mike Evans - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Green Bay Packers

Mike Evans saw a team-high 12 targets last week, finishing with 6 receptions for 78 yards. Not a bad game, but also not the typical game we're used to seeing from Evans, who hasn't scored since Week 7. Evans will get Jameis Winston back at QB this week, who he has had much more success with this season.

Making matters even better, Evans gets a favorable matchup against the Packers in what could be a high-scoring game between two bad defenses. Owners should view Evans as a WR1 option this week vs. Green Bay.

TB WR Mike Evans - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Atlanta Falcons

Mike Evans was strong in his return from suspension, catching 5 passes for 92 yards on 10 targets. Unfortunately, his streak of not scoring a touchdown has now extended to three games, but the fact he nearly had 100 yards means we shouldn't worry too much.

He gets a tough matchup this week against the Falcons as Atlanta is allowing the sixth-fewest fantasy points to opposing wideouts. Despite the poor matchup, we still like Evans due to the fact he's almost a guarantee to get double-digit targets. He should be able to make something happen and can be viewed as a WR1.

TB WR Mike Evans - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Miami Dolphins

Mike Evans returns this week after serving a one-game suspension in Week 10. Evans has been pretty strong this season, outside of his last game where he caught just 1 pass for 13 yards. We expect him to bounce back in Week 11 as he gets a decent matchup against the Dolphins. We like Evans as a strong WR1 this week.

TB WR Mike Evans - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at New Orleans Saints

Mike Evans finished with 60 yards last week, his second-lowest yardage total of the season. He did, however, get another double-digit target week as he got 10 looks in the game. The main source of his struggles simply came from the fact it was a tough matchup.

Things get a bit easier this week against the Saints, especially since there's a strong shootout possibility. The Saints aren't a dream matchup for Evans, but we don't expect him to struggle. He should continue to be viewed as a strong WR1 option.
