CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Washington Commanders
With Tee Higgins missing the first two weeks of the season, Mike Gesicki's role was surprisingly useful, including a 7-91-0 stat line in Week 2. Even with Higgins returning, there's a chance we could see more out of Gesicki, but the team is using Erick All and Drew Sample (and Tanner Hudson in Week 1) along with him, which should cause some pause. Regardless, Gesicki is a perfectly fine streamer for desperate managers against a Commanders defense that ranks 29th in scoring defense and have allowed a league-high six passing touchdowns. If Gesicki continues to see work in the short-middle of the field, he could put up crooked numbers against a secondary that is particularly bad in that area.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 @ Kansas City Chiefs
If Tee Higgins ends up missing Week 2 --and it seems to be heading that way-- Mike Gesicki could be used a little bit more, especially as a big-bodied red zone target. This doesn't make him an automatic start regardless, but he's a fine option for managers looking for a touchdown-or-bust player.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. New England Patriots
If Tee Higgins ends up missing Week 1 --and it seems to be heading that way-- Mike Gesicki could be used a little bit more, especially as a big-bodied red zone target. This doesn't make him an automatic start regardless, but he's a fine option for managers looking for a touchdown-or-bust player.

NE TE Mike Gesicki - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Washington Commanders

There is just no fantasy relevance for Mike Gesicki. He really shouldn’t even be on a fantasy roster at this point.

ME TE Mike Gesicki - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Miami Dolphins

Mike Gesicki scored his first touchdown as a Patriot last week and it was the game-winner. That said, he has just 17 catches all season. He’s nowhere near fantasy-relevant yet. You can find better options this week.

NE TE Mike Gesicki - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New Orleans Saints

With options like David Njoku on a bye this week, Mike Gesicki gets a little bump in the rankings this week. But he has just 10 catches this season and eight of them came in the first two weeks of the season. Hunter Henry is the top option here. Gesicki isn't very fantasy-relevant right now.

NE TE Mike Gesicki - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Mike Gesicki swapped teams in the AFC East, going from Miami to New England. He reunites with Bill O'Brien. The two were together at Penn State. He joins a Patriots team that can run plenty of 12 personnel. Jonnu Smith is gone (traded to Atlanta), so Gesicki will pair with Hunter Henry. Henry and Smith combined for 97 targets last season, with 59 going to Henry. Gesicki could see a pretty even split with Henry for targets.

Fantasy Downside
Gesicki has to bounce back from what was a very quiet final season in Miami. He caught just 32 passes and played less than half of Miami's offensive snaps. New England's tight ends were also pretty quiet last season. Despite the 97 combined targets, Henry and Smith combined for just two touchdowns, both from Henry.

2023 Bottom Line
Patriots tight ends haven't been very fantasy-friendly lately and Gesicki probably won't magically change that this season. He's a nice target for Mac Jones, but he'll have a tough time cracking TE1 territory on a weekly basis. Henry is still around to take targets away and this offense goes through Rhamondre Stevenson.
